Bratwurst Potato Skillet

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2011
I made this recipe for dinner tonight because I had the ingredients handy and wanted to use up some bratwurst I had in my freezer. I am glad that I made it because it was a very tasty dish! I doubled the recipe to 4 servings and made it exactly as written. The only changes I made was to omit the green pepper because my family doesn't like it, I used 8 small red potatoes instead of 4 medium red potatoes, I didn't have dried basil so I used McCormick Perfect Pinch Salt Free Garlic and Herb seasoning because it has dried basil, orange peel, garlic, rosemary, onion, parsley, paprika and celery. I cooked the potatoes and onions together well done so that they were nicely browned and the onions carmelized and then added the sausage and the sauce. I loved the flavor of the sauce and didn't think it was too salty at all. Overall this was a very good recipe that my daughter and I both enjoyed and I will make it again.

Hodie's Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
Love this recipe!! It has replaced my other go-to sloppy joe recipe. I made it exactly as written with the exception that I added a little more ketchup and brown sugar. I also added a little onion powder, garlic salt and black pepper. Yum!!

Easy Homestyle Green Beans

This is a very good recipe. I followed it exactly as written with exception that I used dried minced onion with a little onion powder, instead of raw onion.

Way Easy Pizza Sauce/Bread Stick Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
Delish! I followed the recipe with exception that I added 1 teaspoon of sugar instead of 1/4 teaspoon and I didn't have a garlic clove so I used garlic powder instead of minced garlic. I also didn't have any minced fresh parsley so I omitted that. This was delish! I was making homemade pizza and realized I that the jar sauce I usually use had gone bad so I used this recipe. Two thumbs up from my kids and I. We used it to dip garlic toast in while waiting for the pizza's to cook and it was so yummy!!! Thank you for a wonderful and easy recipe. I will no longer buy jarred pizza sauce!

I'm sorry but I didn't care for this recipe at all. I thought it was greasy and tasteless. I will not make this recipe again.

Marinated Spicy Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
Delish! I decreased the soy sauce to 1/4 cup and added 1/4 cup of worcestershire sauce. Couldn't locate my chili sauce so I used dried crushed red pepper and cayenne pepper. Also used extra brown sugar and added a few squirts of dijon mustard as well as ginger powder, onion powder, chili powder. I used boneless pork chops and marinated it for about 3 hours and then broiled it for 5 minutes on each side. It turned out delicious! I also took the marinade and boiled it and added cornstarch to make a thick sauce to dip the meat in. Yummy!!

Cucumber Tomato Salad

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
I made this recipe exactly as written except I didn't add the green onions because my daughter doesn't like raw onions of any kind. I enjoyed it well enough but it wasn't the recipe I was looking for. I am not sure if it was because of the salt and pepper or if it was the flavor of the cider vinegar but the flavor of it wasn't the flavor I was looking for. I think I will make it again this time with only the sugar and use white vinegar instead of cider vinegar.

Sauteed Cherry Tomatoes with Garlic and Basil

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
Can you say delicious!?? I made this recipe using grape tomatoes and since I was short on time I used garlic powder instead of minced garlic cloves. I added a little salt and pepper and a little onion powder. I cut my grape tomatoes in half and sauteed them in the olive oil. I didn't have any fresh basil so I didn't stir in basil or extra olive oil, I just ate them straight from the pan and they were delicious! I ate them with a sauteed chicken breast that I cooked in the same pan. I can't wait to try them again with the fresh basil. Thank you for a wonderul and healthy recipe!

Oven Fried Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
I made this recipe using thin boneless chicken breasts that I cut into tenders because my daughter prefers tenders. I put the garlic and the butter in a dish and microwaved them together to melt the butter, this made the butter more garlic flavored. I also used italian bread crumbs so I only added a little salt and pepper and no parsley since the breadcrumbs already had dried parsley in them and I mixed in the shredded parmesan cheese. I cooked it at 350 for 35 minutes and for the last few minutes I turned on the broiler to try to crisp it up a bit. This chicken turned out ok but wasn't anything special. The flavor was pretty good but the bread crumbs were kind of powdery like and not really crispy. I was hoping this would be a good subsitition for the fried chicken tenders I make that my kids love but unfortunately it didn't fit the bill. I gave it four stars because it wasn't bad at all just not as wonderful as a lot of the reviews led me to believe. It was good for a quick dinner which is what I needed because I was short on time.

Best Lemonade Ever

I really enjoyed this lemonade recipe! I followed the recipe exactly as written but I only had 4 lemons which only produced about a half of a cup of lemon juice so I had to substitute with Real Lemon. It was still very delicious and I will make it again and again.

Easy Honey Mustard Mozzarella Chicken

Reviewed: May 2, 2011
I really enjoyed this recipe! I cooked 6 slices of bacon in the oven, drained the slices and crumbled them when cool and set aside. I used 4 very thin boneless chicken breast halves. I only had a 1/2 a cup of honey so that is what I used with 1/2 a cup of prepared regular yellow mustard and I also added a few squirts of store bought honey mustard to the mixture. I spooned the mixture over the chicken breasts, sprinkled them with lemon pepper and put them in the oven at 375 for 15 minutes then I took them out, turned them over put more of the honey mustard mixture over them and put them back in the oven for another 10 minutes and then took them out and turned them over again and put more sauce over them with more lemon pepper and baked them for another 5 minutes. I then took them out and topped them with the crumbled, cooked bacon I had prepared ahead of time and with the shredded mozzarella cheese and put them back in the oven for another 10 minutes. They were delicious!! My daughter didn't care for them because she thought they were too sweet but I really enjoyed this recipe.

Scottish Shortbread II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2011
I made this recipe using Imperial margarine in place of butter because that is what I had. Overall it was very good! I will make this recipe again. My kids and their friends enjoyed it! I mixed the dough together with my hands and pressed it into a buttered pie plate, pricked holes in the top with a fork and baked it for about 35 minutes total at 350 degrees. I think next time I will use a bigger dish to press the dough in so that it will be thinner and more crisp as a result. Mine was not cooked in the center despite putting it back in the oven twice, maybe this is because I used margarine instead of butter? I sprinkled sugar over the top after it was done cooking. I will use this recipe again and try it with butter and maybe a little more sugar and some vanilla flavoring.

Perfect Baked Potato

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
This was very good the only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I like for the skin of my potatoes to be crispy and with this recipe they weren't. The skin was very soft and almost soggy. I made these exactly as the recipe states.

G's Flank Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
I didn't care for this marinade and neither did my daughter. She said it was too salty and I agree. The soy sauce flavor was overwhelming. I will not be making this recipe again. It seems that the different seasonings and flavors didn't go together well.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
Very delicious! I added 4 frozen chicken breasts to the crockpot and used about 3/4 of a bottle of a 16 oz bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's Buffalo Sauce and 1/2 of a package of the 1 oz pkg of dry ranch dressing mix. I cooked them on low for 4 hours and then added 2 tablespoons of margarine, shredded the meat and let it cook for another hour in the sauce. I toasted hamburger buns with a little butter and put the chicken on them with ranch dressing and they were delicious! My 13 year old loved them and I am curious to see if my 18 year old will because he is a pickier eater. He loves buffalo wings but I am unsure if he will like this recipe.

Oven Fries

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I really enjoyed this recipe. I have made it many times following the recipe exactly and it is great as is. Last night I made it to go with Maxwell St. style polish sausage sandwiches and I tweaked the recipe a bit and I actually enjoyed it more than before. I used 2 sweet potatoes, 4 russet potatoes, 2 teaspoons of olive oil, a good sprinkle of Lawry's seasoning salt, 1 tablespoon of white sugar, a nice sprinkle of cayenne pepper, put them on a cookie sheet coated with canola cooking spray, baked them at 450 for about 20 minutes, flipped them and baked them another 20 minutes, when I took them out to flip them I sprinkled them with kosher salt. They were delicious! I actually enjoyed the sweet potato fries more than I did the russet potatoes and so did my kids who usually don't like sweet potato fries. Yum! Thank you for a wonderful recipe that can be used as is or modified to your individual tastes.

Potato Nachos

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
I made these for a get together and everyone really enjoyed them. I didn't have Monterey Jack cheese so I used a combination of Cheddar cheese and Mozzarella cheese. I also didn't have green onions but they were still delicious without them. I didn't top them with sour cream but had it on the table along with ranch dressing so people could use either one they wanted. The kids enjoyed them dipped in ranch and the adults enjoyed them with the sour cream. Very good recipe, thanks for sharing Tony!
