About this Cook
Active, outdoorsy, healthy eaters on a semi-tight budget.
My favorite things to cook
Anything quick, healthy, organic, and relatively cheap. I experiment a lot since we usually have a bunch of random ingredients in the refrigerator and pantry.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't really have any cooking traditions, I usually go against tradition anyways.
My cooking triumphs
"Italian Veggie Bake" or "Scallop Couscous" The first one was the first actual recipe I followed, and everyone that tried it (my roomies and a few of my coworkers) liked it. The second was another experiment that turned out extremely well. I may submit this one someday.
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at Stir Fry... I put WAY too much soy sauce in it.

Elegant Turkey Stuffing
one of the best stuffing recipes we've ever had. we used all our pecans for pie, so we chopped up some hazelnuts and added some sunflower nuts for the stuffing, and it still came out great. An excellent stuffing for the orange glazed turkey we had this year.

Butternut Squash Stuffed Shells
This was pretty good. I did make some changes though. I put the goat cheese in the filling and used parmesan for the sauce, I also chopped up the spinach and mixed it in with the filling. Next time I make this I'll probably make a lower fat version by not using as much butter, and using something other than cream, probably low fat or skim milk.

Basic Crepes
Very quick and easy to make. We'll definitely have to make this recipe more often.
