Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
This was easy to make and good, but lacking in flavor. Definitely needs fresh ingredients and not canned, as in tomatoes. So I made MY version by adding cumin powder, a pinch of sea salt, fresh tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, red onions, yellow, orange and red peppers, squeeze of fresh lime juice and diced avocado. Was WAY better this way. When I first made it without my tweaking, my husband (who eats anything) gave it a thumbs down. So I remade it using the fresh ingredients and a few changes and he gave a BIG thumbs up!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 22, 2008
Very good cinnamon rolls, but I agree with the other reviewer that the cooking temp and time is way off. 400 degree oven is way to hot of an oven and the time to cook them is too short. Mine were done on the outside, perfectly, but still doughy inside. I had to stick them back in the oven and cook them longer. Next time I will use a oven at 350 or 300 and just cook them longer. Also I really think the brown sugar/cinnamon mix was too much! I didnt even use all mine. Otherwise, pretty darn good!

Strawberry Whipped Sensation

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
Tasty and easy to make! I actually only had a ready made chocolate pie crust. So I followed the recipe exactly but used only 2 cups strawberries mashed and when it was ready topped it with a few other cut strawberries and whipped cream. Great dessert for summer time!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
Really good and easy beef stew. I usually flour and brown my stew meat before I put it in the pot, but this was a nice and easy change of pace. I added a touch of red wine to my beef broth for flavor, but followed the rest of the recipe to a T. It came out great and my hubby loved it!

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
This pizza dough is the bomb-diggity! It is so easy to make. I have an industrial Kenmore stand mixer and it kneaded this dough perfectly. I added some Italian seasonings, used olive oil instead of vegie oil and also added a bit of garlic powder. I was able to roll it out with no stickiness! Great recipe!

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
I love avocados and I love guacamole and this is really good guacamole. In fact, the hubby and I just ate some tonight w/chips and salsa. I try to follow the recipe exact except I add a bit more cayenne or sometimes Jalapenos for some spice. I will add a touch of Lawry's and it definitely needs cumin. I buy my avocados from Costco because they come 5 in a bunch and are a lot cheaper then the market and they are good. So I am making guacamole all the time it seems. Which is ok with me and the hubby!

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
These were really tasty, no doubt. But the batter is another story! Mine was so thick that I couldn't even stir it, so I had to blend with a hand mixer for a minute just to get it mixed up. My arm got a workout for sure. They also don't spread, but come out sort of thick and chunky. As someone else wrote, they are almost like a brownie. They are very tasty tho and definitely the answer to any craving for chocolate you might have. They are rich, chocolately and decadent. Served these at my sister's wine party, and everyone loved them.

Really good, fast & easy! Way better then store bought micro popcorn. I put mine in the micro for 2 minutes and it was perfect. A little salt and butter and movie night was set!

Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2008
Really good and easy! I left out the garbanzo beans, because they just didn't sound right in a baked bean recipe? Added a touch of BBQ sauce and I also cooked in a crock pot for time restraint, and they were great!

Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2008
This is pretty much the way I make my pesto, but I use 1 cup of pine nuts instead of walnuts. And add an extra clove of garlic. Really good!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Yummm! These are delicious and easy to make. Exact recipe of the Land O Lakes recipe. I dont always use raspberry jam. I sometimes use apricot, strawberry or whatever jam I happen to have in the cupboard or fridge!

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
These were really good. Like good old fashioned buttermilk pancakes my gramma used to make. Mine came out super-duper fluffy too. Downfall was, I had tons of batter left over. My husband and I could only use so much of it. great recipe when you have lots of people to feed!

Hershey's ® 'Perfectly Chocolate' Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
I have been making this cake for years now. It always comes out with excellent results and great compliments. My gramma used to make this cake, too. So you know this recipe has been around for a long time. I don't understand some of the other reviews that said the cake came out dry? This is one of the most moist cakes, I have ever made. You have to follow the recipe exactly, or you won't get good results. It's a great basic recipe for a great old fashioned chocolate cake.

Oriental Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
Really tasty sauce. Especially good with the Asian Lettuce Wraps from this site. I did double it and added a little more sugar and water, since it's pretty salty. Even my husband, who loves salt, said it was a bit too salty. Next time I will use low sodium soy sauce too. Otherwise really good!

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
Really tasty and healthy! I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and finely diced. I had to omit the water chestnuts, since I didn't have any on hand and used a little shredded cabbage instead. Made more dipping sauce, added dried red pepper flakes to the chicken mix for some kick and used Romaine lettuce leaves. They are stronger and hold up much better then bibb or butter lettuce. Pretty comparable to PF's!

Best of the Best Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
These were really good and I followed the recipe exactly. Not really sure why people alter the recipe then only leave 4 stars or less, because they didn't come out or taste that good! Hello! try leaving the recipe alone and see how it comes out! You may be surprised!

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Very good flavor. I added more garlic & hot sauce to my marinade. Then after it was done marinating I sauteed mine in a mixture of a little butter, garlic, olive oil and Tiger brand sauce. Yum!

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Really good dish. Has a lot of flavor and just spicy enough. I followed it to the T except I left out the cornstarch. Served it over rice with some Naan bread on the side. My hubby liked it alot!

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
This is really good. I sometimes omit the brownies and have used oreo's, chocolate wafer cookies, etc. And it is just as good. I have also used just strawberries or raspberries in place of the brownies. You can add, omit and play around with this recipe and every time it tastes like a million bucks! It's also really easy too and everyone thinks you went to a lot of trouble.

Amy's Barbecue Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
Really good salad! I followed other reviewers suggestions and used 2/3 C of ranch dressing & 1/3 C of BBQ sauce. I also added jicama. I think adding the french fried onion rings make it so much better! And Trader Joe's has the best!
