Cheesy Onion Focaccia

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
This focaccia bread is not only easy to make, but absolutely wonderful! I was very impressed how well it turned out. I followed the recipe exactly, but used freshly grated parmesan cheese and mozarella cheese, instead of cheddar. I served it with Jamie's Minestrone soup, from this site and it was SO good! My husband couldn't get enough!

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
This was pretty good, but mine came out of the bread machine tasting bitter. I couldn't figure it out. I used the exact ingredients it called for. After it sat a bit, it started tasting a little more sweet and lost some of the bitter flavor. But then it sank in the middle and was lopsided. I may try it again but bake it in the oven this time.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
These were quite tasty, but it was just banana bread in a muffin form. I think the topping was a little sweet too. Next time I will use less brown sugar. I also added my topping about 10 mins into cooking so it wouldn't melt right into the batter. They came out great and hubby liked them too. But we both agreed it was just a very sweet version of banana bread. Maybe more banana in the mix would cut some of the sweetness out.

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
YUM! This is a really good recipe for chicken pot pie. I used pre-made crusts and the filling was too much for one crust, so I had to make 2 individual pot pies. Which was okay with my husband. I also omitted the mushrooms and used peas instead. Everything else I followed exactly. Very good and Im sure I will be making this a lot, when it starts getting cold!

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
My sister's and I have been making this pie for years, especially when we wanted to fulfill a chocolate craving. Which was pretty much every week! I also use a pre-made crust, dollop with whipped cream and top with toasted almonds. Excellent!

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
Very tasty pie crust. Easy to make too. I left mine in the fridge overnight, took it out the next day and let it sit for 15 mins before I rolled it and put it in my pie dish. I made a blueberry crumb pie using this pie crust, and it was heavenly!

Pumpkin Pie Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
This was good and tasted just like a pumpkin pie, BUT the cooking time is WAY off. Mine cooked in about 2 1/2 hours. Perhaps it has to do with different slow cookers? All in all, really good and a keeper recipe for the holiday months. But watch the cooking time, otherwise it will burn.

Hasty Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
This recipe is amazing! I can't believe I even wasted my time buying boxed pudding mix when this recipe was right here, all along. I used real Dutch chocolate and it came out excellent and very tasty! What an easy recipe for a delicious dessert made in no time! I shared this with my choco-holic sister and she was amazed at how good it was!

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
I had a bag full of fresh apples from our apple tree. I found this recipe and decided to give it a try. I took the advice from other's and doubled the topping. I also made the mistake of not tasting the apples before adding the sugar, because boy! was it sweet! I also forgot to up the amount of flour, so it was a bit watery. All in all, came out really good, even despite my errors. But it was very sweet. Next time I will add more flour to the apple mixture and use less sugar. It's a keeper tho!

Pie Crust Treats

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2008
My mom used to make these all the time when she made a pie. My siblings and I used to love these! It was a special treat for us. I am so glad I found a recipe that is just like the ones she used to make.

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
This pie was pretty good but not sensational. I LOVE coconut cream pie but was a bit dissapointed in this one. I made it as written with the exception of using just a bit more coconut. It had a great flavor but just didn't WOW! me. **UPDATE** This pie was SOOO GOOD the next day?! I have NO idea why it tasted better the day after, but it was excellent. So despite my previous review, this pie is really good!

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
I have never made pecan pie, because neither I nor my husband are big fans. I decided to make one tho for my sister-in-law's birthday, it being her favorite dessert. I picked this recipe based on reviews and the fact it doesn't use corn syrup. It came out wonderful, according to my sis-in-law, the pecan pie expert. I had a piece as well as my husband and we both loved it! I will be making this pie more and more and for the holidays! It's easy & delicious!

Chicken Satay

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2008
I marinated mine overnight. I did reduce the salt just because I don't care for my things too salty. Glad I did because even with 1/2 the salt, they were still a tad overpowering. Instead of hot sauce I used a little cayenne pepper. Also used hot curry powder and lime instead of lemon. They came out pretty good. Next time I will reduce the salt even more. I grilled them on the BBQ and served with sweet chili sauce and a Thai peanut sauce and some rice.

Mom's Rum Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2008
This is a great & tasty rum cake recipe. BUT it isn't an original! This is the EXACT same recipe that's on the back of the Bacardi rum bottle and in their cookbook. It's been around for years! And I have been making it for years. So this is basically Bacardi's rum cake recipe with another name attached!

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

These are good but they are the same recipe that's on the back of the Quaker oats box. With more butter/margarine and added cloves. I think the recipe on the back of the Quaker box, is better. Sorry

Margaritas

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
These margaritas are the BOMB and SO easy to make. I bought a margaritaville frozen concoction machine recently and wanted to take it down to my sister's for our annual 4th of July party at her house by the beach. I searched for a recipe and found this one. I am so glad I picked this one, because these were a huge hit at the party! I ended up being the bartender for the night and made batch after batch of these delicious drinks. Some people thought the limeade a bit too tangy so I used 1/2 the can of limeade and squeezed a tad of fresh lime in the mix. They were perfect!! This will be the drink now for our 4th of July party from now on!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
Really tasty! My husband, who is from Chicago, knows his beef sandwiches smothered in peppers. I made this for him since he misses his favorite beef sandwich joint in Chicago. He was speechless and said, "this is just like home"! He loved them. I used a chuck roast, shredded the meat when it was done and served on toasted hoagie rolls smothered with roasted peppers and melted provolone. He took one to his dad the next day, who is also a Chicagoian, and he was in heaven. Thanks for making my husband and my father in law's day!

Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
Great flavor! The longer you marinade, the better. I used flap meat and grilled it on the BBQ and it was excellent. Made the relish, salsa and an avocado sauce and served with corn tortillas and mexican style cojita cheese. Also grilled some mexican style corn-on-the cob from a recipe on this site. YUM!
