Sauteed Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2013
Delicious and easy to make! One of my favorite Fall foods. I make this a lot and it's so good with baked ham, turkey meatloaf or even as a dessert on top of ice cream!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2013
This was okay, not outstanding. I have to agree with some of the reviews that it tasted more like creamed rice than actual rice pudding. My mom and granny made an excellent rice pudding but you baked it. It took a long time to prepare, and I was in the mood for rice pudding, so reason why I gave this recipe a try. I added cinnamon and nutmeg and 1 tsp of vanilla instead of a 1/2. I would make it again with less rice I think.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2013
This was tasty with some modifications. I added onion powder, ground sage, black ground pepper, salt, and a Northwoods seasoning that has a kick to it, to the rest of the ingredients. I also increased the topping a bit and added nutmeg, clove and dry mustard and a touch of cayenne. Made an excellent meatloaf!

Red Raspberry Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2012
This is easy and it does taste good but way too much vinegar. Next time I will 1/2 the vinegar or add more raspberry jam. I also used jam with the seeds in because it's all I could find at the time. I ended up blending it all in a blender and then straining the seeds out. It's good but needs a bit more sweet to balance the strong vinegar flavor.

Oreo™ Cookie Bark

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
Easy recipes with great results but I changed mine up. First I broke up oreos and pretzel sticks and laid them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Melted 1-2 lbs of Wilton Vanilla Candy melts and poured over my Oreo/pretzel mix. Then sprinkled red, white & blue M & M's and 4th of July cupcake sprinkles over the top. Let it harden up, broke them in pieces and put in bags tied with sparkly 4th of July ribbon! SO cute! I will be making the same concoction at Halloween and christmas only changing the color theme!

Tomatillo Salsa Verde

Reviewed: May 8, 2012
I am a freak over "green sauce" tomatillo verde. I love it. This is really good and very authentic tasting. I did add more onion and more cilantro. Cooked for 15 mins and then pureed in my food processor. I had mine with tortilla chips but it is also really good over tacos, enchiladas and carne asada. YUM!

Frozen Bananas

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2012
These are so tasty! Reminds me of the frozen bananas you got at the fair as a kid. Made these with a ton of bananas we had on hand and I keep them in the freezer for quick snacks/or dessert time on warm days. I sometimes add shredded toasted coconut, chopped up reese's peanut butter cup or even drizzle white chocolate on them. Anyway you make them, they are outstanding! my husband and nephew love them!

BBQ Chicken Pizza I

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
Made this tonight and my husband said it's better than CPK's BBQ chicken pizza. I added Italian seasonings to my crust dough, sprinkled minced garlic over the top and a bit of parmesan cheese. Heated up a cut up rotiesserie chicken with some Trader Joe's BBQ sauce. I omitted the molasses, honey, etc. Chopped up extra cilantro. Topped with the smoked gouda and a sprinkling of red pepper flakes. Have to say it was the bomb pizza. I honestly do think it's better than CPK! Definitely a keeper and according to my husband, I will be making this often!

Tuna Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2012
Really tasty tuna noodle casserole. I didn't add celery or pimento, sauteed the onion in butter not oil and topped the casserole with bread crumbs. Very easy to make and hits the spot when you want comfort food.

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2012
This pizza is SO good. I make it as often as possible. I use Trader Joe's pizza dough, Costco rotiesserie chicken and mix it with Frank's Extra hot sauce. Ranch dressing instead of Blue Cheese and top the pizza with chopped red onions. It is fantabulous and so tasty!

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2012
This is good, no doubt, but very, very sweet. Personally I think it would have been fine without all the frosting, it's sweet enough as is. I also didn't do the freezer method and it came out perfectly moist. There are a few glitches in this recipe tho, one being the cook time/temp. I had to cook mine for 1 hr 30 mins. Secondly, the amount of sugar? I left out the extra 1/8 cup because to me, it isn't necessary. As I said earlier, it's a very sweet cake. Thirdly, could use more banana. I wasn't tasting a whole lot of banana flavoring and the frosting is too much, totally overpowers the cake. That being said, it was good but I think next time I make it I will omit the frosting and cook it at a higher temp for less time. Tastes just like banana bread!

Mocha Coffee

Bland, bitter and way too chocolate tasting. If I wanted hot chocolate, I would have made it. Wasn't that great, sorry.

Berry Trifle

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
This is good and had potential as is. But I brought it to WOW with a few changes. First off, mixing the pudding mix with condensed milk makes for a grainy custard. So that being said, I made vanilla pudding per the box instructions, using 1 c milk and 1 cup condensed milk. Then I used all fresh raspberries and bought a butter pound cake from the store. I cubed the cake all up and divided the raspberries and started layering, alternating between the pudding, berries and pound cake and sprinkled 2 TBS of the praline liquor over each layer. Topped with whipped cream and sprinkled semi-sweet chocolate curls over the top. Voila! it was beautiful and tasted wonderful!

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
This was a bit too sweet for us. I prefer a more traditional cheesecake with the sour cream topping, etc. It was good, but not the best. I think the white chocolate is a bit too much. No one at my dinner really ate a lot of it, or commented on it, and that's a sheer sign something's up! So I ended up making another cheesecake using my traditional recipe with the sour cream topping. I shaved white chocolate curls over the top and made a fresh raspberry topping. it was outstanding and everyone ate it up!

Original Chex® Party Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2011
Been making Chex mix for years during the holidays. It's a great snack for everyone. I also leave out the wheat chex, don't care for them and often add parmesan twists or other type crackers, etc. Lots of options you can add/omit with this recipe. Also, I always bake mine in the oven, it's so much better that way. I don't see how the micro way could taste good at all or come out crispy like it should be. Double or even triple the seasoning/butter! as is it comes out way too bland! I also add a touch of hot sauce and cayenne pepper!

Pecan Pie Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
These are good. I'm not a big fan of pecan pie but these bars are soo tasty. I couldn't stop eating them. I am making these instead of pecan pie for thanksgiving, along with a pumpkin cheesecake. I added a bit of Bourbon to the filling. YUM

Chocolate Mint Dessert Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
I love mint and chocolate together. My MIL made these one christmas and I fell in love with them. I couldn't stop eating them. I searched for the recipe and found it here. These are SO good. I made brownies out of Trader Joe's truffle brownie mix and used Creme De Menthe. Outstanding and easy to make. My local liquor wharehouse had 2 kinds of Creme De Menthe, one was clear, the other tinted green. So I bought the green, of course. But for christmas I plan on buying a bottle of clear too and putting red food coloring in one frosting and using the green for the other. Only thing I would change is add more Creme de Menthe, as is it's very very subtle mint flavoring and all I could really taste was the butter. I prefer a more mint flavor, so I added more creme de menthe. Next time I will use less butter and more creme de menthe.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
Really tasty but sweet. Almost more like a dessert then a side dish. I added a bit of Makers Mark bourbon to the mix. Great along side my herbed crusted pork roast and sauteed brussel sprouts. Husband loved it!

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
This is a good basic recipe. I add a touch of sugar to my sauce to tone down the acidity from the tomatoes. I also added more garlic, used red wine instead of white and a touch of garlic salt. Left out the onions because my husband isnt a big fan of them. It was tasty. Next time when I have more time I will add fresh basil, and maybe top it off with meatballs.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2011
The sauce was really good but the flouring part and cooking times were just off. I didn't like the flavor at all of the flour coating and it was too time consuming for such mediocre results. Plus it took my chicken more time to cook then the alotted time it states in the recipe. Next time I will make the sauce and prepare my chicken some other way.
