Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2005
An excellent ranch dressing. I personally found the dill flavor to be overpowering (and I really like dill). It was so strong in proportion to the other seasonings that I could taste little else. I would definitely make this dressing again; however, I would cut the dill proportion in about one-quarter so as not to mask the other flavors.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2002
Excellent muffin. Very moist, not too sweet. I will add more cinnamon to topping next time as there was not a discernable cinnamon flavor. Also, recipe made 14 standard (cupcake-size) muffins and not 10.

Honey Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2002
This recipe just didn't do it for my husband and I. Although the overall flavor was okay, the texture was too cake-like, puffy, and spongy.

Vegetarian Link Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2002
The base recipe is very good. However, with a few adjustments I think it's great. First, reduce the olive oil to 2 Tbsp instead of 3 (you don't need so much oil in such a small serving). Thought it was much too thick so added more like 1.5 cups of broth. For most flavorful gravy, use an "unchicken" broth instead of plain vegetable broth. I think Westbrae "California UnChicken Broth" has the best flavor. Finally, suggest using meatless sausage patties instead of links -- I think the Morningstar brand is the most tasty. Defrost two patties, finely chop, and add to gravy right before serving. I whipped up a batch of gravy and served it for breakfast over biscuits. YUM.

Sweet and Sour Faux Meat Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2000
These are the best "fake" meatballs I have ever tasted. It was almost scary how much they looked and tasted like "real" meatballs. I had to keep reminding myself that I had not actually put any hamburger into the recipe! The sweet and sour sauce was very good, too. I also plan to make the meatballs again with Italian seasonings and parmesan cheese and use them in spaghetti.
