Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
I use 1/2 c. veg oil and 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce. I also cut the sugar down to 1 2/3 cups and omit the nuts. I make this in mini loaf pans and freeze them to have on hand for dinner, snacking, or travel. Delicious!!!

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

I used fortified light vanilla soy milk and eliminated the sugar and vanilla and it was delicious! I also ground the oats first before adding the other ingredients and blending.

Candied Carrots

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
These carrots were delicious! I followed the suggestion of another reviewer to steam them and then combine the carrots with the ingredients and carmelize the sauce. We were very happy with the results!

Beef or Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
I used chicken breast with this. I refrigerated it for 6 hours. After grilling it, we thought that the chicken came out very moist. It had good flavor, but we weren't "wowed" but it.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
Absolutely, positively delicious!! I always read all of the reviews before trying a recipe from this site and make modifications if I suspect they will be needed. For this recipe, I decided to make it as directed first and then make some of the recommended changes the second time I made it if I thought it needed it. I only used 4 large Granny Smith apples, but made the caramel and crust as directed. I was so happy with the results that I'm not sure if I'll add cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla next time. I'm so happy that Grandma Ople's granddaughter shared this recipe, especially since I've never made apple pie before. This is one I will pass down to my own children. Thank you!

Modenese Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2007
I cut the butter in half, made instant mashed potatoes on the side, and stirred the sauce left in the frying pan (from the pork) into the instant potatoes (I cut the amt. of butter in half for the potatoes, too.) Very, very delicious! This is a recipe we will use over and over again.

Zesty Chicken and Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
I used chicken breast and marinated it in Italian dressing for 2 hours. I added baby carrots, used half the amount of garlic, and added 1/2 teaspoon of red (cayenne) pepper and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. This was delicious, moist, and a keeper!

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
My husband is not a chili fan, but he does like spicy things. I added green pepper and 6 oz tomato paste, and I also doubled all the spices except the chili powder, salt and pepper. I served it over white rice. I thought it was delicious, and my husband enjoyed it as well! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!

Paprika Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
We think this recipe is VERY good! I did use thin sliced pork, though, and cooked it stovetop in a frying pan. Then I mixed all of the paprika, garlic salt, and black pepper together and seasoned the pork with some of it. I put the rest of the spice mixture into the sauerkraut mixture. I spread the pork with the sauerkraut topping and let it simmer in the pan.

Herbed Sweet 'n' Sour Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
We enjoyed this recipe. I didn't have any thyme or cayenne pepper on hand, so used chili powder for seasoning. I made the chicken in the crockpot (on high for 4 hours) and then served it over brown rice.

Pumpkin Bread

We really enjoyed this recipe. To suit our tastes, though, I may lessen the cloves next time, add a little ginger, and sweeten it just a bit with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top.

Colorful Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2006
Tasty soup1 After reading the reviews, I made a few adjustments to suit our tastes. Instead of water, I used vegetable broth, cumin instead of cayenne pepper, and I also added more potato flakes after adding the milk and half and half to thicken it more.

Creamy Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2006
This turned out wonderful on my daughter's first birthday cake. At first taste, right after icing the cake, I could taste the flour, but as the cake set for a few hours, I thought the flavor improved and I could not taste the flour any more.
