Brown Rice

my 12 year old and I loved this. Very yummy. I used an extra 1/4 cup water as we like ours rice less chewy. I made my broth with beef soup base and water because I didn't have any canned on hand...and tossed in some baby portabella mushrooms which floated pretty on the top.If you like shrooms they were a great add.Excellent rice. Will def make again.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

These are wonderful. I will never make another CC recipe again. I cut the recipe in half and they were perfect. (we could have eaten the whole batch) I can't wait to try French vanilla pudding, white chips with macadamia nuts. As others said these do not spread much.. so pile them on your sheet. I did use parchment paper. Cookies always bake better with it. 12 minutes exactly in my oven which is new and bakes perfect. You won't regret the effort if you make these.

Cake Mix Cookies VII

Very Easy. I love to cook fancy desserts but I find with kids around they would rather have simple cookies. These bake perfectly if you use a cookie scoop. I used a Funfetti cake mix and icing with sprinkles. They were gone fast. Tasted just like birthday cake without the mess of cutting and serving.

Chicken Piccata II

This was great! My kids even liked it....a lot. I did double the gravy (then I had to thicken). I did flour, let rest for a half an hour in fridge, egg wash and re-floured then poured the gravy and cooked the rest of the way. If you like picatta "crispy" finish in the oven and leave the sauce on the side. I love it soggy. The coating stayed on great.Very pretty for you gourmet cooks. I also added extra garlic powder to the gravy.. YUMMY STUFF.

Smothered Beef Short Ribs

Good recipe. I did use less liquid and had to thicken the sauce with corn starch. My mom is a home EC.teacher so she taught me to improvise. I had no wine so I used cranberry juice.I minced all the veggies so my kids wouldn't complain but I could still get the good flavor. It was mouthwatering.I served with scalloped potatoes and it was yummy but the gravy on mashed potatoes has got to be the best. We had left over gravy so I froze it and threw some store bought meatballs in it to simmer for a few hours. My best meatballs EVER.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

OK here is whats special about this recipe. The cooking time(s). I was skeptical that 1 hour would work but it was wonderful. I used my own spice combo but the cooking time made it moist and wonderful. The spice combo sounds wonderful but we all really wanted garlic. Great method to cook a whole chicken. I made the two 15 minute times 20 minutes because mine was a 5 lbs. I also stood mine up on a pop can filled with broth. Very good moist chicken.

Heavenly Hot Dog Sauce

I served this for my daughters 9th birthday party. A lot of kids ate it and the parents went WILD over it. Two people asked me for the recipe. A few people just scooped it with potato chips and one just ate a sauce dog (sauce on a bun). I doubled the liquid ( it takes a while to cook down but I liked it with more sauce).I used chicken broth instead of water and didn't use any hot pepper. I will make a big batch and freeze in smaller containers so we can always have it on hand. Good Good Good

Sunday Best Fruit Salad

This is a great simple recipe. Soaking the bananas and apples is the best tip EVER! I usually don't like peach pie filling or canned peaches but in this case it goes very well. It makes the salad very glazed and fresh looking not soggy. I will add blackberrys right before I serve for pretty color.This is the second time I have made this and it does really hold up overnight.

Better Than Sex Cake II

Great Recipe. I made two small round cakes. Poked holes in first layer poured sauce then toffee crumbles then added second layer poked holes and added toffee crumbles the refrigerated for a bit ( so the cake wouldn't slpit or fall) then iced with whipped topping drizzled caramel and sprinkled toffee bits. It really is beautiful.

Brownie Crackles

Very good. We used a 1/2 cup extra flour and peanut butter chips. The longer the mixture sits the thicker it becomes. This makes a TON of cookies. I can't count because we have eaten as we baked. Very good and easy. These would be great for a bake sale.Be sure to regrease your pan if you are using it over again(i forgot on one batchthey stuck just a little). also I used the handy cookie scoop and baked for exactly 8 min.

Best Brownies

Snow day here and I needed something for a valentine party tomorrow. Very good tasting brownie.I added chocolate candies (pink and red) for valentines day. You put half the mix then a layer of candies (or giant size candy bards like butterfinger work well also) then the rest of the batter. These make them extra yummy. If you use the candy bar make sure to let them cool completely.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Good overall recipe. I boiled a chicken breast then put it in the food processor. I did also omit the cheese.It really goes good with celery. I would prefer bleu cheese dressing next time and I may try our favorite BBQ sauce ( very spicy jerk) also as my hubby does not like buffalo. Also the low fat cream cheese worked well for us. I will make this again for New Years.

Butter Cookies IV

This is a great recipe. Cooks nicely. Does not PUFF like sugar cookies. To make gingerbread cutouts ( nobody here actually likes gingerbread but me) I knead cocoa powder into part of the dough to get that gingerbread color. (cinnamon would work too)They turned out perfect. I will use this recipe from now on.

Smushed Apples and Sweet Potatoes

This is a great recipe. The only change I would make is to boil the potatoes on one side of the stove while doing the apples on the other. BOTH take @ 15 minutes to be ready to mush. I also added marshmellows on top to make it pretty for the kids. My 4 year old said she didn't like sweet potatoes but after 1 spoon asked for a bowl. just the right sweetness. These would be good with pork and ham too!!

Marshmallow Popcorn Balls

If you like more caramel taste... I used 4 cups marsh. 1 cup caramel bits 1 teas. vanilla and these are more caramel less rice krispie like. Very good. They set up perfect. I have made these both ways and both are very good it just depends on taste.

Savory Party Bread

This is very good. I had 5 people ask for this recipe at 1 party. I added a dusting of garlic salt on top for extra flavor. I can't wait to try this with pepper jack cheese.

Fluffy Two Step Cheesecake I

This is a really good Cheesecake. I used 2 packs of creamcheese, 1/2 cup of sugar, vanilla coolwhip and vanilla paste. Turned out great in a springform pan.
