Chai Tea

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
If you ground the spices and add them into the teabag (its what I usually do, then i carefully staple the bag shut) and boil it for a while, the oils from the spices actually blend in with the flavor of the tea. I'm rating it 4 stars because I love the combination of spices - these are my favorite spices, and it's a joy to be able to drink them in tea (whihc is also my favorite beverage.)

Pumpkin Kaya

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
Being overseas, I missed fresh kaya like the one my mother made. I came across this recipe and decided that this would be a healthier alternative to the traditional egg rich kaya. I used low cholesterol coconut cream, which made my kaya 98% cholesterol free. I also reduced the cooking time by more than half, as I felt that the cooked pumpkin was soft enough, and I used thicker coconut cream. That way, I hoped to keep most of the nutrients in the pumpkin. This is a great vegan alternative to the usual kaya and is much healthier without compromising taste. 5 starsll the way!

Fresh Spring Rolls With Thai Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
i didn't have cucumber, so i just used carrots and lettuce and prawns. instead of cutting the carrots, i grated them with the big grater. i also added a bit of japanese mayonnaise for flavor. and i didn't make the dipping sauce, i just used kikkoman soy sauce. i'd make it again. it was easy to make and very yummy.

Banana Oat Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
it's ok; i was trying to get rid of the bananas that i had, and i found this recipe. i'd add extra sugar next time, and mash the bananas up before mixing them into the oats and milk. i'd definitely try it again.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
LOVE IT! It tastes absolutely divine. I reduced the flour to 1 cup as suggested by others, and I omitted the nuts (because I didn't have any.) I also served it warm with chocolate ganache and dessicated coconut. YUM!

Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2009
BEST EVER! I made tempura onion rings a few nights ago and was pretty bummed that the batter came off when I fried them. I look recipes up and seeing that this one had good reviews I decided to give it a go. I used freshly made breadcrumbs with my multi grain bread so it wasn't so dry. I also used like 3 medium onions. I yielded about 3-4 servings easy. Good stuff. This definitely will be going into my recipe collection.

Easy Cheese and Garlic Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
I love this recipe. My boyfriend wolfed down half the batch really quick. So did I. I added some flaked parsley for a bit of colour, and i sprinkled a bit of cheese on top of the scones. This made them look like the scones you get from the shops.

Curry-Coconut Shrimp

Reviewed: May 26, 2007
i tried this recipe once, and i liked it. but i did modify it because i didn't have red bell peppers - i used green bell peppers instead. and if i were to make this next tme, i won't add in cornstarch. something about cornstarch that makes the texture of the curry unpleasant.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
LOVE IT! I don't have a waffle maker, so I used my cast iron grill pan (well buttered) instead just to give it some texture. It tasted very fluffy, my boyfriend loved it, and that speaks volume because he's usually very fussy. This recipe is going in my collection!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2009
One of the best pancakes made from scratch ever. I added some fibresure and vanilla essence and I replaced the butter with oil. I cooked the pancake with butter instead. It was AWESOME. This recipe goes in my little recipe book!

I made half the quantity because at first I was skeptical. But after taking the first bite, I fell in love with it. Delicious!

Icy Banana Milkshake

Reviewed: May 27, 2007
i like this. it's basic, you can add in some things you like. but there was too much sugar. i'd reduce it and if you have a sweet tooth add in some artificial sweeteners. i added in a dash of powdered ginger and it turned out ok. overall a good recipe to keep.

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: May 25, 2006
I loved it the first time I tried it. Perfect for when having guests over. If you can't find fresn cilantro for garnish, try chives. Doesn't matter, really. The dish is awesome!
