Caramel Frosting V

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Very good. I forgot the baking soda while i was making it. stuck it into the freezer for it to cool off faster. Whipped it with my kitchen aid mixer with the whisk attachment. I had to add a few rounded tablespoons of powdered sugar. I found no use for the baking soda, if you dont have any, dont worry about it. i iced this onto my apple cake and it was a big hit at my church's meet and greet. thanks for the recipe!!

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2009
I made it today for a soup sampler I'm particitating in tomorrow so I doubled it. I used the italian spices seasoning that I had in bulk to the nearest rounded tablespoon (or 2) and extra garlic.. I ran the elbow pasta in cold water but it still soaked up most of the broth (I didnt double the noodles just the spices and broth) It didnt have enough tomato-y taste so I used up the leftover can of low sodium v8 I had in the fridge.. I also added some red pepper flakes and gonna add crushed tomatoes for more texture.. my family liked it so I will have to see how it goes tomorrow.. thanks!

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This recipe is very good. I doubled the recipe since we had so many apples leftover and used a 9x13 pan. I followed the reviews about using both brown and white sugars and used a teaspoon of nutmeg. I also had to let it bake for 65 minutes but the topping did not brown so I moved the pan up to the broiler for a minute and it did the trick. one side of the dish looked watery so I was afraid that I used too much water since the bubbling increased and leaked out to the oven floor just a little bit but when we let it cool off until after dinner, the apples reabsorbed the liquid and whatever was left was more of a syrup. The topping was crunchy and great with vanilla ice cream. I will definately make it again. my mom said she feels like eating the whole thing of the big piece I brought home for her!

Hot and Sour Chicken and Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
AWESOME! I didnt have any lemon grass so i didn't use any. I like my stuff sour so i added 2 more dashes of vinegar. I also used the lite version of soy sauce to cut back on the salt. I didnt have black pepper so I used white pepper.. I didnt use a whole tablespoon just about between 1/2 and 3/4 tbs. It smelled the rest of the soup so i added more garlic powder, minced and about 2 cups of the broth mixture. I accidently added a lil too much red pepper than i wanted so i scooped some out and cooked the chicken in the soup and used one small onion. Will definately make again and I will try to thicken it with arrowroot and water since most hot and sour soups at the restuarants are thick.
