About this Cook
Foodaholic type so I learned to cook fairly early. I love trying new recipes from various cuisines and collecting cookbooks when traveling.
My favorite things to cook
Sunday dinner, special occasion desserts, family Thanksgiving, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I make 20+ varieties of cookies and candy at Christmas for gifts. I've talked about taking a break but friends and family threaten to disown me!
My cooking triumphs
My first baked alaska at age 13; keeping daily family meals fun, interesting and varied is an ongoing challenge. I hate making the same thing twice unless it's fabulous.
My cooking tragedies
When I can't find ingredients that I need for a new recipe. When "celebrity" cooks' recipes don't work.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole
A really nice departure from potatoes when you're serving pork or ham. My kids love this and it goes together in a snap. This is comfort food at it's best. Great with any kind of BBQ too.

Banana Pudding IV
My niece wanted banana pudding for Easter dinner so I logged on and printed out this one based on the ratings. We were not disappointed. I made it the night before and I was surprised that the vanilla wafers were still crunchy. I put them around the edges like in the photo and it was pretty. Next time I might do it in a trifle bowl. My only suggestion would be to chill the pudding before you frost with the remaining Cool Whip so that you're not just incorporating more Cool Whip into the pudding (need a firmer surface to spread on). Yum, yum, yum. There was carrot cake and ice cream on the buffet table too and everybody ate my pudding. Need I say more?

Overnight French Toast II
The liquid was really too much - I had to syphon quite a bit off. Maybe I needed a heartier bread(?) This is really probably enough mix to make two 9 x 13 pans. Very sticky texture and other than "sweet" just not a lot of flavor. Although the sugar addict in the house said it was "the bomb."
