Wisconsin Native's Beer Cheese Soup

Reviewed: May 17, 2006
I liked this recipe a lot, though some of my family felt that the beer flavor was too overpowering. It wasn't as creamy as most beer cheese soups I've had, but still enjoyable. Make sure you use a very flavorful cheese - I blended extra sharp white cheddar, sharp cheddar and cheddar and it was awesome.

Crab Bisque

Reviewed: May 28, 2006
Not impressed. at all. It tastes like exactly all it is: tomato and mushroom soup. I even tried to add garlic to spice it up, and i still wasn't happy. If you're going to try it, be prepared to add your favorite things to fix it: browned onions and garlic, spices, cream- good luck.

Quick and Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
followed the basic recipe with a few tweaks and came out with a good little meal. I was surprised how well the processed cheese slices melted over the noodles. too bad i just discovered my roommate hates the smell of canned tuna. she is running around the apartment screaming. perhaps i will refrain from making anything-tuna for a little while.

Spicy Slow Cooker Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2010
I cooked the beejezus out of this soup (probably 18 hours in a slowcooker after beans soaking for 12) to get it nice and thick, but oh man it was worth it. Also, pureed half in a blender about 12 hours in. My parents found it too spicy- i blame the jalapeno juices. Boyfriend and I inhaled it. What a simple, spicy delight. Will definitely make again, despite long cook time. It just sits in a crockpot while I go about my day and eventually I have awesome soup!

Winter Root Vegetables

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
Good but not outstanding. If I make again, I'll add more horseradish and maybe some lemon juice. Subbed a rutabaga for the taters. Overall, a simple and decent recipe for root veggies.

Asian Spicy Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2010
Not particularly asian. And kinda bitter. I think its the fresh ginger and curry. I didn't have any mayo or chiles so my review of this recipe probably isn't very valid. That said, I don't think those items would've made too much difference. I used cilantro and horseradish cream instead (yum, right?) and wasn't too thrilled. Its okay though- I ripped up a bunch of lettuce and stuck a scoop of this tuna madness on top. With a little bit of italian dressing and parm cheese, it was a good little meal.

Hearty Meatball Soup II

Reviewed: May 12, 2009
This recipe was a plesant suprise: I followed the recipe fairly strictly, only using slightly different veggies (just what I had in my freezer and cupboard). The meat I used was ground sirloin because that's what I had. And I put a little italian seasoning in the balls. I sent some to my mom to put in dad's lunch, and she called and asked for the recipe. Boyfriend and I liked it too.

It was delcious. Definitely toast the bread lightly, unless you like it soggy. Very rich. Will make again.

Peanut Noodles

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
It was good. I put in too much peanut butter (whoops). Save some of the green parts of the scallions to garnish the top with. Looks pretty and tastes good!

Very disappointing. I was surprised because everyone else loved it. Not for me.

Never Enough Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
made for thanksgiving- was pretty good, but I'm not the biggest fan of velveeta and i could detect its gooeyness in the sauce. I'll prob go back to my traditional recipe next time, but it was fun from something different!

Easy Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2006
I liked it well enough, but probably will not make again. My friends loved it. If you're going to make it, I reccommend using less salsa. Be prepared for a runny casserole with a lot of flavor.

Slow Cooker Reuben Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
Delicious, but like other users noticed, the dip thickens and needs stirred frequently. I added more dressing once to thin it out but gave up eventually. Otherwise, I loved it, and so did my guests.

Simple and delicious. It would be perfect for a sick day. Broth is thinner than restaurant version I am used to.
