I don't get much time to cook because I'm too busy being a student and bartender, but when I do, I try to cook healthy-ish. Doesn't always happen, as one of my favorite things is creamy cajun pasta, but I try to scratch the pasta, rice, bread, taters, fatty cuts of meat, cream sauces, etc. Oh, but give me the cheese. Can't live without the cheese. And soup. Lots and lots of soup.
My favorite things to cook
Any form of a reuben: dip, soup, pizza and of course the sandwich. I also like making my own tex-mex chicken salads. And hot & sour soup. And chicken piccata.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I handmake about 200 pierogi every black friday with my Polish grandmother and aunt. The pierogi are frozen and devoured on Christmas Eve, usually paired with some shellfish and creamy mushroom soup. We do the cheesy potater and sauerkraut varieties. It takes us the entire day and is really monotonous, but totally worth it to visit my Mimi and continue the family tradition.
My cooking triumphs
I specialize in knock-out dips and soups.
My cooking tragedies
Half the time i step in the kitchen is a tragedy. Doesn't keep me out, though. A few months ago, I was trying to puree a hot asparagus soup and the lid popped off and shot boiling soup all over me (and the kitchen). Ow.
