Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
Ok, after making this side dish many times I have perfected it. 6 Cloves tossed in olive oil just to coat. Into the broiler for a few mins., well just till they brown. Meanwhile I peeled and cubed 6 medium potatoes. Into boiling water for aprox. 15 - 20 mins OR until you stick a fork into the largest potatoe and it breaks only once. I then drain and into a bowl. I add approx. 2/3 cup of milk. I then add pressed roasted garlic. Don't worry about the left over larger pieces that are in the press. The hand held mixer will beat it up. Added a few minches of salt. Then I added 3 tablespoons of marjorine. Blend it well. Last but not least I added a tablespoon of garlic spread marjorine. OMG it was to die for!!! WOW all around!!

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
What a fantastic recipe. I made only a few adjustments... I used 5 bacon strips cut into bits. I used chicken theighs instead of breasts. I browned the chicken in the bacon grease. I used an Italian blend of cheese. I do not use orange cheese as it makes my son very hyper. I will make this meal again but in the slowcooker as suggested by another member. I made roasted vegetables that went beautifully with this meal.

Bolognese Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
This recipe was AMAZING!!! I took the advice of another review and cooked the bacon then removed it. I then made the "mirepoix" (shredded carrots, chopped celery and onion) cooking it in the bacon fat. When they were soft I then added the garlic, pork and beef, chicken broth and RED wine. When the meat started browning I added the oregano (from the sprig) and the basil. This was the most wonderful Bolognese sauce!!! I served rice pasta with this meal.

Barbecue Pork On Buns

Reviewed: May 15, 2006
An AMAZING recipe, except...I added balsamic vinagar, salt, pepper, oregano and 2 very large cloves of garlic run through a garlic press. I did not put in the soda. I then sliced up the pork and put it into a frying pan. I then added enough B.B.Q. sauce to colour the pork. I served immediately with additional B.B.Q. sauce. It was AWESOME!!!!

Blackened Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2011
Well I thought I had all of the ingredients :( I didn't have the paprika so I used Cajun spice in it's place. I found it a bit on the spicey side but my 11 year old son said this was GOOD and it should be made again!!

Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
Excellent cookie!!! Chewy and moist! I doubled the spices are recommended from other members and they were DELICIOUS! I threw in the rest of the sugar with the dry ingredients as well. When they cooled slightly on the pan I put jam on one bottom and used another cookie to sandwich it. Perfect Jam Jam cookie!!!

Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
I enjoyed the chicken, however I have 2 family members that are lactose intolerant. I put an extra 1/2 piece of bacon inside with the fresh chives, and used Tofutti Sour Cream Supreme in place of the mayo. I doubled up on the sauce as other members mentioned and spooned it over the rice I served.

Cornish Finnish Michigan Pasties

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2012
I ended up making 1 1/2 recipes of the pastry to match the amout of filling. All in total it equalled 18 pastries. We all found it a bit dry so next time we are adding 1/3 cup of A1 Steak Spice and a smooth beef gravy to go over them.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2012
I actually made this in individual pies and with my own families pie crust recipe. I've never made this before and one thing that was not mentioned was the fact that the chicken, carrots, celery and peas needed to be drained before dumping into the pie crust. I did this and it turned out great. It was very simple and wondering what I could do to add more flavour to this dish.

American Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
I had to make some changes. I would suggest reducing the vegetable broth in with the meat. I used oregano instead of thyme (I get heartburn). The meat could also use some more flavour, maybe not lean meat since you drain the meat anyhow. This recipe needed some corn so I layered frozen corn over the meat then the mashed potatoes. I was not certain about the celery but it was GREAT in this recipe.
