Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
I really liked this soup. It is exactly what it is supposed to be and that is a basic recipe for chicken and noodle soup, and you can adjust the measurement of the ingredients to suit your tastes. The only change I made was to cut back on the water, I thought that was too much water, I like a chunkier soup, but that is a personal preference. As for the person who said this gave her a stomach ache?? There is nothing in this recipe that would cause someone to get sick unless they have an allergy to one of the ingredients or perhaps she used spoiled chicken? I don't know, but to blame the recipe on her stomach bug is beyond ridiculous.

Homemade Wine

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
I made this using white grape raspberry, white grape peach, and grape. The grape raspberry and grape peach are really good (and strong!) but the grape is by far the best. I used 6 cups of sugar and the result is a very sweet wine, which is what we like. I used yeast made especially for wine and I boiled my water and sugar to make sure all the sugar dissolved. After 5 weeks I poured through coffee filters and transferred wine to another container for a couple of weeks before bottling. This is the perfect wine to use to make Sangria.

Mocha Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2007
I followed this recipe exactly except I sugared the almonds. I used 2% milk and next time I will use whole milk so that it holds it's shape a little better. The coffee liqueur was way too strong for me, so next time I will use a strong coffee and use, maybe a cup, not the 1-1/2 cup this recipe calls for because the toasts were saturated and added nothing to the texture of this dish. I think that with these changes I will definitely make again. thanks for sharing your recipe!

Pasta Salad with Homemade Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
The dressing was bland to me, tasted like just plain vinegar and oil and my husband didn't like it at all. So I added 1/3 cup of sugar with a tablespoon of mustard and that improved the flavor. It is a very pretty salad and I will make again but will use a different dressing.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2006
I followed this recipe exactly and they baked nicely, great texture and great flavor but after a couple of days of being stored in a zip lock bag they became very dry and crumbly. I threw out half of the batch, they were falling apart.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2006
These cute little "cups" are really good! I took the advice from other reviewers and froze the peanut butter cups until ready to use. Make sure you let the cookie cool completely before attempting to remove. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
This was the BEST turkey I have ever made, or tasted. I baked my turkey in a brown paper grocery bag ( a first for me, it's fantastic) and it was so tender and juicy you almost didn't even have to chew it! It made tons of stock, so I had enough stock to make a huge batch of gravy. The gravy was so good that one of my guests jokingly asked me if I had a straw so he could drink it! When my guests took the first bite of turkey I heard a lot of ooh's and ah's. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe, I will always make my turkey this way.

Hot Apple Cider

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
I made 4 times the amount in the recipe and it was gone by the end of the afternoon. The kids loved it as well as the adults. I used ground cinnamon and cloves, and added an extra quarter cup of syrup. I was out of cheese cloth so I just let the peel float for awhile and it delicious! I am looking forward to having this on Thanksgiving.

No Fail Pie Crust II

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
this recipe is the same as my old recipe with the exception of lard in place of shortening. Shortening has trans fat which is what I am trying to avoid. This recipe is so wonderful and superior to shortening or oil made crusts. It is exactly like the pie crusts my mother and all the ladies of "back then" used to make. Thank you!

Mom's Chocolate Cake

My daughter has gestational diabeties so I tried this recipe using splenda and it exceeded my expectations for a sugar free cake. I am looking forward to the next time I make this using regular white sugar after the baby is born. Thanks for sharing your mom's recipe!

Zesty Dip for Chips

This is more of a salsa. I cut the recipe in half and I'm glad I did, it would have been way too much for our crowd of 5. It's good. Thanks.

Easy Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
Really good! I let the kids help me and they felt like they had just made a real cake! I used a 16 oz. jar of chocolate fudge sauce and I think that next time I will use even more. I think that sugared pecans would be great on top and if you add a banana this would taste similar to a banana split. Very good, thank you!

Classic Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2006
Made this exactly as directed and found it to be not at all too sweet. I have switched from using the elbow macaroni to a whole 16 oz box of rotini and the amount of sauce is still enough. I have found that making the sauce the day before and then adding it to the chilled macaroni just before serving makes a creamier salad and it isn't absorbed by the pasta. Love it love it love it!
