I am married to the love of my life, Frank for 7 years now. Together we have 4 children. I have a 27 year old daughter and I have a 13 year old son that is an All-American boy. I also claim Frank's two children, a 15 year old daughter that loves to help me in the kitchen and is well on her way to being an excellent cook and a 13 year old son that is also an All-American boy. All the younger kids are into skateboarding and skating. I have a grandson that is 2 years old and he loves food that most toddlers don't even eat. One of his favorite things to do is grab a green bell pepper and start eating it. If you try to take it from him you have a fight on your hands. I stay busy to say the least.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything Italian, Mexican or Cajun. I have many other dishes that often requested as well. Some of my favorites things to cook are: spaghetti and meatballs, shrimp alfredo, tamale pie, taco salad, steak fajitas, crawfish pie, chicken/sausage gumbo, shrimp stew, rice dressing, turnip casserole, chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, italian baked chicken, chicken pot pie, peanut butter pie, coffee pie, lemon pie, banana nut bread, banana chips, candy, cookies and cakes of all types. I love to experiment and find uses for items I have around the house.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Most the females in my family started cooking around the age of 12. I started my girls out a little younger, they were introduced to the basics at around 6 years old.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I ever made a jello mold, it came out perfect. I had heard so many nightmare stories about it and I had made a very special sugar free mold for my dad at Christmas and it was important that it looked perfect.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I attempt to make gumbo, I did it right except I cooked the rice in the gumbo. I was trying to do it without a recipe just from watching. They nicknamed it gumbo jambalaya. I was teased for a long time over that.
