I aim to please...just that type of woman and find that it works with cooking. It's great to observe someone enjoying something that you've created whether it's your own creation or one from another's recipe. It's most rewarding.
My favorite things to cook
My folks taught me how to make the best cabbage rolls ever at the young age of seven. Now, I make the best I've ever tasted so you might say that is my favorite. When I'm not sharing my cabbage rolls I'm making anything Italian or Greek. Love that Mediterrenean influence.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We make something called 'Cake & Sauce'... a poor's man dessert and it was one of our staples growing up. My mom bakes the best bread, makes the most awesome date squares and this French Canadian meatpie that she makes every Christmas eve. We fight over the leftovers lol.
My cooking triumphs
Cooked all the food for a soccer banquet... which went over very well. Raised three sons who were 'bottom-less pits' each with their own individual pallette. Was tough sometimes trying to please everyone but I did it...& taught each of them how to prepare 5 meals ranging from easy to challenging. Figured it would prevent them from starving and might impress a young lass down the road.
My cooking tragedies
I was just married and my husband tossed my first salmon loaf in the bin. It really did taste awful. Then there was my first attempt at making duck without using a recipe that might tell me to place it on a rack so it won't be swimming in a bath of grease. Can't say as I eat much duck from that day on lol.
