Beef Cabbage Hash

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
You'd never think this would be good because it's basically only four ingredients, but it's excellent! I nix the water entirely and just stir-fry the beef with the other ingredients. I like to stir-fry everything for 20-25 minutes so it's nice, brown, and somewhat crispy. Delicious! I'm a sucker for Mary Kitchen hash, but this is so much healthier and even better tasting!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
These are pretty delicious (I made them with cranberries and walnuts), but I think the serving size is waaaaaaaaay off. Unless you want to eat a scone that is the size of a man's head, this serves more like 24-36. I used 2/3 of the recipe, thinking I would have 8 scones, and I ended up with 24. Oh, well--there are worse things in life than 24 scones.

Spinach-Pork Stuffed Shells

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
FANTASTIC RECIPE! OMG it was SO good. We changed it slightly: Used one 14-oz can of diced tomatoes mixed with sauteed onions, dried basil, and dried oregano instead of the plain tomato sauce. Sprinkled a little dried basil into the stuffing mixture. And used 9 jumbo pasta shells instead of 6 (we just stuffed them less full, maybe with a tablespoon of filling each). Oh, and used light cream instead of heavy cream. It was SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO good. Please make it immediately. You will not regret it.

Chicken, Garlic, and Sundried Tomato Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2006
This was surprisingly good. I wouldn't say it was five-star quality, but much better than I was expecting. If you're expecting to make sauce for 8 people from the ingredients listed, though, think again. I made the pasta for two and still used a whole can of condensed soup. I also added some basil, and fried the chicken in the pan with the garlic (used olive oil instead of butter)... it was good. If I have one gripe with this recipe, it's that the sauce is too thick. Next time I might add more milk and see where that takes me.

Blanc Mange (English Style)

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2006
This was pretty great... I grated the lemon peel and kept it in, and added some grated orange peel as well. The overall consistency was like a thin pudding, so if you're expecting a more custard-like consistency, you might be disappointed. I served it with fresh sliced strawberries and melted hot chocolate on top and it was fantastic, but I'm not sure how amazingly it would stand on its own.
