About this Cook
I'm a computer geek. I'd rather be a chef or something, but things in life have kept me from my dream, so I do my next favorite thing all day and cook all night! :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes--bread, veggie, whatever. I also like almost all ethnic foods--as long as they are vegetarian!! I have quite a history of baking too and love to do it, but my waist isn't as fond of it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Food is the centerpiece of the family I grew up in. Both of my parents are excellent cooks. Put any of us in the kitchen and we'll get the job done. We have traditions (hot cross buns at Easter, Swedish saffron rolls--luciakatter at Christmas), but also try new things (enchiladas one Thanksgiving). We're a fun food-loving family :)
My cooking triumphs
I have three famous products: enchiladas (which I don't make anymore because my recipe is not veg), Ultimate Choc Chip cookies, and Moosewood Chocolate Mud Cake
My cooking tragedies
I'm pretty successful at most things I try, but there was one attempt at chocolate mousse that wasn't so hot--somehow it separated and was gross.... Then were was the 4-H cooking thing I did where I nearly started a blender of Orange Julius without the lid...good thing I had forgotten to plug it in too!

Suzanne's Spinach Quiche
It was perfect!! I used fresh spinach (cooked down) and substituted half the yogurt with cottage cheese (for protein). I also added some parmesan cheese. YUM YUM YUM--We wanted to eat the whole pan between just two of us, but managed to restrain ourselves.

Chickpea Curry
Very very tasty, though very spicy. I still had heartburn when I woke up the next day! Next time we'll go with our gut feeling that 1 tsp is way too much cayenne!

Very very good flavor. Made a LOT though--I think next time I'll halve the recipe. I used a cast iron grill/griddle pan--grill side up on my stove and it worked great. I also used spray vegetable oil to grease the pan and the backside of the naan before flipping. Even my 2 year old came begging for more!
