I'm a 50 something mother of four and grandmother of three. I live along the shores of Lake Erie, in Pennsylvania.
My favorite things to cook
I would rather bake than cook. I love to make cookies and desserts. I love to cook for my friends, and for "bring a dish to share" picnics. I delight in people asking for my recipes, and am glad to share them. Recipes should never be a secret, they should always be passed around so people can enjoy them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas Cookies.. mmmmmmmm love to try a new one or two every year.
My cooking triumphs
I don't believe I've ever had a major triumph as far as cooking goes. I've won a few ribbons at the fair for baking, and cake decorating. If my family and friends don't talk while they are eating....cause it's so good they just want to eat....that's a Triumph.
My cooking tragedies
It wasn't really a tragedy, but when my three oldest children were young, they were helping me make banana bread. I told my son who was the oldest and only one who could read at the time he could read us the recipe and the girls and I would put in the ingredients. I told him we were making a double batch, so he had to double everything. He did great, and at the very end told me it had to be baked at 700° for 2 hours. HE DOUBLED EVERYTHING JUST AS I TOLD HIM!

White Chocolate Macadamia Cranberry Dreams
I hold a Christmas Cookie exchange and went looking for a cookie to make for 2008. I found this cookie and so glad I did. It's a keeper! I submitted my own photo of what mine turned out like. I called my girlfriend after the first batch was out of the oven and told her if they tasted anything like they smelled and looked they were going to be a hit, and they were with me when I tried one after they cooled enough to taste one! I made them as directed maybe putting in a little more white chips than it called for, and cooked them for the 10 minutes they called for and they were perfectly done! One batch for me made 6 dozen and a couple extra but I made them about 2" big for the exchange. If made bigger, they would have made less. The recipe says one batch made 3 dozen.....those must have been BIG cookies! Thank you for this recipe I'm sure all the cookie exchange group will want a copy of it too!

Lady Lock Filling II
This is THE BEST filling for lady locks. I made them all summer long for graduation parties, and a 4th of July picnic. People couldn't get enough of them. They loved that the filling wasn't too sweet. It's more like a pudding that DOES NOT weep after being frozen. THE PEFECT FILLING! YUMMY! Thank you for sharing this recipe. It will be a family favorite for years to come.
