Tomato Gorgonzola Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
I've only made one other recipe, so I suppose saying this is 'the best' may not carry a lot of merit, but this would easily be a soup you would find in a nice restaurant. I didn't have cream so I used straight milk and since I didn't have tomato juice, was making it out of tomato paste (3/4 c paste + 1 cup water to make tomato sauce, then equal parts sauce/water to make juice) so I added in an extra teaspoon or two of paste as a thickener. It was excellent. I pureed the whole thing and my kids, husband and myself dipped grilled cheese sandwiches into it. Definitely something I'm going to make again and again.

Authentic Thai Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
I do not think this is any exaggeration to say that this is the best soup I have ever tasted. Based on other reviews, I used ginger in place of the galangal. The lemongrass and lime leaves are essential. I also used one can of regular and one can of lite coconut milk, and used red curry paste in place of the curry powder. The flavor in this soup is incredible. Thank you so much for sharing.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
Mild but good flavors. I used 10 oz of frozen chopped spinach and added about 1/4 cup of water to it and the tomatoes initially because it seemed a little dry. Baked fresh bread to wipe up what remaining sauce there was. Delicious and easy. Definitely going to make this again.

Caramels

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2007
This is the best candy recipe I've made this year. I had to make it twice because my family ate the entire first batch and I wanted to give some away! I tried this last year and it didn't work, but that was because I was new to a high altitude and didn't know that for every 500 ft above sea level, you subtract a degree. So now I take the mixture off the stove at 238 and they're perfect every time. A real keeper, this one!

Asparagus Cashew Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
I make this a couple times a month, and almost always for company. Everyone loves it, from my 2-year-old to my grandpa. Definitely one of the best recipes on Allrecipes.com! You can easily substitute broccoli or green peas for the asparagus, if you want, and while jasmine rice is superior, regular rice can work in a pinch. Excellent excellent recipe.

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2001
I forgot to add the extra honey like others suggested and I can definitely see why it would have helped! This is still pretty good and I am enjoying it as a snack, over ice cream, and with milk! mmmm!

Amy's Garlic Egg Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2001
My mom made this over the weekend and it was delicious! All of the kids loved it and those who still live at home are hard to please (teenagers). I've added it to my recipe box now and will definitely be making this over and over!

Chicken and Sausage with Bowties

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2001
Next time I think I won't use quite as much pasta since there didn't seem to be enough sauce, but maybe I just need to add more diced tomatoes as someone suggested. I actually liked the flavorings, but I always add more spices anyway.

Creamy Orange Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2001
As another reviewer suggested, I added orange zest and extract to a white cake mix since I can't find an orange cake mix anywhere - it was divine! I also garnished the top of each slice with 1/6 slice of orange and my guests asked where I bought such a lovely cake. I said, "Ha HA - I made it, thanks to Bea on Allrecipes.com!" THANK YOU!

This recipe is outstanding! People beg for the recipe. I've made these several times since they disappear so fast. Last time I did half milk chocolate chips and half butterscotch. My husband was almost crying for joy. THANK YOU!!

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2001
Wow - is all I can say. The ingredients are simple enough, but combine them together and - shazam! - one of the best dishes I've had in an LONG time. Our guests couldn't get enough - the husband demanded the recipe and even their 18-month-old kept pointing for more. My only regret is that I didn't make more for leftovers. Thank you so much (I'm salivating just remembering it!).

Red Snapper Livornese

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2001
This was outstanding! I added an extra can of whole tomatoes and upped the spices (after realizing I had added 1 1/2 tsp. red pepper - oops!) I served it over white rice and placed a few slices of avacado on top - delicious! My husband applauded and it will be made again soon. Thanks!

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2000
This was OUTSTANDING! I forgot to get the fudge topping so instead I sprinkled chocolate chips on top of the cheesecake part before putting it in the oven. I also couldn't find a 9 oz. brownie mix so I just used a Betty Crocker one (made the brownie part according to the box's directions) and split it between two pans. All of my guests wanted this recipe and I will definitely make this in the future. I don't have kids so I don't know if they would like it because it was so rich. But my oh my was this divine!
