Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2006
Made these for a holiday cookie exchange - they were good but I think I will try something else this year. Did not make as many as stated.

Holiday Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2006
Used this for Thanksgiving this year - it was great! Very pleased and I am so glad I did not leave out the bell pepper, it really added to it. I chopped it real small. I added a little more sausage than called for and used sage sausage. Thanks for a new staple!

Black Russian Cake I

This was a hit last night! I cooked for 50 min, I used yellow cake but cant wait to try chocolate. Used the glaze from Brook and it wasnt perfect - not enough (and I doubled it) and not crunchy - next time I will try it like the recipe states. Yumm Yumm - a big hit with the girls

Baked Potato Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
Moooooo - this is so bad for you, but oh so good - Made this for a bunko party - first I used a bigger pan so I increased the potatoes to 12 - used a pound of bacon and I mixed half in with the mixture. I also used 3/4 cup mayo and added a cup of sour cream (used "light" on both). I saved a bit of the cheese (used cheddar) and added it on top with the rest of the bacon and sliced green onions halfway through cooking. And....here is the really bad part....I added about a half of a cup of the bacon grease into the mix. I also used garlic salt. Basically, you can make it any way you want - how can you fail with these ingredients? Thanks!!

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
Yummm! I really liked this - dh said he would have liked it more without the cheese but that did not stop him from two helpings. I think it would be good with parmasan and peas or parmasan, fresh diced tomatoes, and basil or (you get the idea - anything)....thanks for a needed side dish update.

Pat's Mushroom Saute

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
Ok, so I changed the recipe a bit...but we loved these. Omitted the olive oil, forgot the balsamic (will try next time), used Italian seasoning v. just oregano. Plus, I started with one thinly sliced onion, then after a couple minutes added the mushrooms and 3 tsp chopped garlic. Also cooked at a high heat bc we like them camelized a bit. Thanks for the springboard Pat!

Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
This came out great! Left sausages whole so our guests could choose with a roll or eat plain. Then for leftovers we cut them up and served with rice. Yummm - use the biggest pot you got!

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2006
Yum! Gosh this was easy and great. I used a mixture of sausage and ground beef, added garlic, and used my lasagna pan - all fit with plenty of room. I was concerned about the sour cream but it really just blends in. Thanks!!

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2006
I would not call these French Fries, but they are still good! I usually do this with red potatoes - this was yummy - and of course the kids loved it. Lowered temp to 400 as suggested from other reviewers (thanks!) and flipped with a spatula every 10-15 min. Use less oil then you think you need and spray foil generously with PAM- Thanks!

Baked Bar-be-Que Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2006
This is just a good recipe for taste- but a great recipe for ease and effort. I served with Baked French Fries I, and it was just what was needed for a busy mom on a weeknight. I used legs and thighs - followed others suggestions - took skin off at 1 hour and basted BBQ every 10 min for 30 min. Lined with foil for easy clean up. Thanks.

Ham, Potato, and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
This came out very good. I used Sierra Gold potatoes, only half of the Velveeta (by the way- I was very leary of ruining my soup with velveeta - we cant stand it! But, it did melt nice and provide a subtle flavor with no oily separation). I then planned to add 2 cups of cheddar but decided it was plenty cheesy for our taste. I started soup in the morning, pureed the onion and potatoes after cooking with a hand blender, then added our leftover ham with bone from Easter and let it simmer all day. Added the cheese and milk about an hour before serving. Came out good! Would make again.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
This was good - not amazing for us, but good! I subbed low sodium beef broth for the wine, used 1.5 T soy sauce, 1.5 T worchestshire and it was not too salty. Thickened the juices and served over egg noodles. Five hours on low worked for our two pound tenderloin. Will make again.

Original Nestle® Toll House® Chocolate Chip Pan Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
Mine came out a bit dry and greasy - sounds funny those words do not usually go together. They were not the soft chewy bar cookie I was expecting. I will try again and not cook them as long.

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
I dont know- I don't get what everyone likes so much. I thought it was just average with not a ton of flavor. Luckily, I love salmon so any kind tastes great to me. I did cut the oil to about 1T. Doubt I will make again. Thanks.

My favorite salad - gosh it is good! Dont leave out the avocado and double the dressing amount. I buy candied pecans at the market so I can skip that step. Thanks!

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2006
I thought this was a solid 4.5 stars. It came out good. I did not think it tasted like a honeybaked, not as candied, but still good. I would make this again, but I would also try something else too. I cut this in half and still had a lot left over and I basted every 10 min for a 7 pound ham. thanks!
