Quick Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2007
These were GREAT! I made them for a birthday celebration for someone who loves oreos, and they were just perfect. Easy to make and very quick, although you'd never guess how basic they are from the taste. I'm looking forward to trying filling variants.

Chocolate Cobbler

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
I cooked this twice tonight w/o changing anything from the recipe in my attempt to get this "right." I've come to the conclusion that it's the recipe. There was way too much butter to begin with. And since water and butter don't mix, the "syrup" was a gross mixture of oil and water. The cobbler part was strange as well. It was a gooey, gummy mess that I threw out. It was a waste of ingredients and a disappointment. Try the hot fudge cake III w/coffee if you want a good recipe.

Lemon Mushroom Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2006
I was expecting this to be more flavorful but it was quite bland. The only thing that saved it was the capers on top.

Pineapple Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2006
This was a big disappointment after having read all the great reviews. This cakes tasted like a cobbler-without the juices the cobbler naturally has. It was very sweet with just a little pineapple taste and the butter sauce was WAY too buttery. The next day, even though the pineapple had settled more into the cake, the butter sauce had hardened on top and it was just a greasy mess. I was completely unhappy with this recipe and threw it out.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2006
This was the best bread I've ever had. I lessened the amount of sugar as suggested and also let it rise the second time for a little over an hour. The second loaf is the freezer and I will def make this again.

Carol's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2006
This chicken salad was fantastic. I used a pre cooked chicken from safeway instead of cooking my own. I took the advice of others had lessened the poultry seasoning to 1/4 tsp and left out the swiss cheese. I used a mixture of green and red grapes and added a little more green onion. The more this sat in the fridge, the better it was. I used the Amish white bread recipe from this site and together with home made bread plus this salad, my spouse and I were in heaven.

Chicken Piccata I

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
This dish was ok, but the lemon was too strong for me. I couldn't taste any of the other flavors. Plus, I kept thinking this would be SO much better with fish than chicken. Just ok, probably won't make it again...at least with chicken.

Penne with Chicken and Pesto

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
I ended up using 3 cloves of garlic with this dish and 1 cup of fat free half in half and 1/4 cup of chicken broth. I added cornstarch to the half and half to obtain the thickness. During the simmering I decided the sauce wasn't enough, so I doubled what was called for. I added some shredded cheese and about a TB of sugar because with the added cheese and doubling of the sauce the dish was a bit too salty for my taste. I immediately ate the food, but determined that my second helping was MUCH better than the first-during the time it set the flavors melted together more and gave such a stronger flavor. Overall, it was a good dish and I'll make it again.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2006
These were good cookies, but I have both complaints and praise. In rolling the cookies in the powdered sugar, as others said, my cookies had white spots to where all the sugar was not cooked in. The taste didn't change, but the look wasn't as appealing. I froze the dough for 45 min and they still were sticky and ended up cooking them for 17 min because the dough just wouldn't cook. I still have some in the freezer stored for later. I have had compliments on them, just the actual appearance wasn't as pretty as other desserts I've made. All in all, I'd make them again.

Hot Fudge Pudding Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2006
This was awesome! I did change one thing: Instead of pouring hot water on top, I poured freshly brewed coffee. This made the cake have such a fantasic flavor. I can't wait to have it again.

Baked Beans I

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2006
These beans were really good. I used "Bush's Honey Baked Beans" chopped up some onion, added 3-4 TB of yellow mustard, several shakes of Frank's Red Hot, W. Sauce and threw it all in the crockpot for 4 hours. They were the best beans ever.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

These burgers were wonderful. I added about 7 shakes of worcestershire sauce, a TB of frank's red hot sauce, an entire egg, some grated parm cheese and I doubled the bread crumb amount. I'm making these again tonight!

Chocolate Cherry Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2006
This was fantastic. I put half a cup of chocolate chips into the cake batter and topped the cake with chips as well. I didn't use the icing but had whipped cream instead. This cake was so moist and just perfect.

California Sherry Chicken

Reviewed: May 3, 2006
This was extremely good. I added fresh mushrooms and used 3 garlic cloves. Plus, I took everyone's advice and doubled the sauce. I might actually triple it next time because I let the chicken simmer for longer than the recipe stated (probably 30-40 min) and it soaked up the sauce. The chicken was fantastic, but next time I'll use more sherry and chicken broth. I served this over rice and it was fabulous. :) thank you.

Amish Slaw

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2006
this was really good. I didn't add quite as much sugar and oil. (1/2 cup of sugar and oil) and I substituted celery salt. I let it sit for 3+ hours in the fridge and it was great. This slaw was even better the next day-still crunchy and full of flavor.
