Red Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
Wanted something without sour cream or goofy ingredients, so found this one. Very excellent! I saw the 1.5 cups of water, so like others I used Paste instead of Sauce, but that was the only deviation. Turned out yummy. I used this on "Beef Enchiladas II" recipe. For half the enchiladas I mixed some wolf brand chili in the sauce and poured it over because I wanted some chili-style too. VERY GOOD. Thanks for the recipe!

Beef Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
Okay, my first attempt at enchilada's and this was a great recipe! I didn't have the packaged enchilada sauce, so I used "Red Enchilada Sauce Recipe" by Sal on this site, and it was perfect. Also, after reading some reviews, I decided to add some taco beef seasoning (didn't have the prepackaged, so I found a recipe from this site). Also, I added some wolf-chili to the red sauce before pouring over the enchiladas to give it the chili-cheese style. MMMMM... was a hit all around, thanks for the recipe!

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
de-lish-ous! Our new donut recipe (if we can plan more than 30 minutes in advance. Might actually try to freeze the donuts after cutting them out, as this recipe yields ALOT of donuts. We also found the best temperature on our stove-top was med-low... otherwise they get browned too fast. This gives them a light tan color when done. Oh yeah... Anywho... great hit... better than cutting out biscuits like we used to do.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
Oh yeah... GREAT recipe. I made a half recipe, and for some reason I wanted a "double chocolate" cookie, so to make the batter chocolate, I added a 1/4 cup of cocoa and tablespoon of vegetable oil to the batch. So if you use the full recipe, might want to double that. Otherwise, the cookie didn't last 24 hours.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
My daughter (10) made these all alone... simply the best cookies I (dad) have ever tasted. I think we found our cookie recipe. The double chocolate was not overpowering, but really an awesome dovetail with the chocolate chips... of course, we added a few more choclatec hips than called for, but at that point... it was quite chocolate, so what's the big deal? Stirring them in by hand was a good decision, and the dough was quite thick.

Cream of Broccoli Soup IV

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2007
Wife loved it, I thought it was 'pretty good.' Fairly easy to make once you get the consistency right... Kinda lacked flavor... but a quick glance at the ingredient list could have tipped me off to that. I added some cheese in my bowl and it helped. Next time, probably just make broccoli cheese soup.

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2006
D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!! We're eating them as we type (with one hand). For the topping we (Jess) found the Royal Icing III... highly recommended! We couldn't wait the recommended 24 hours to chill the cookies, so we stuck them in the freezer for 10 minutes... I think 15 minutes would have worked better... but the cookies were awesome, no ill-side effects to the freezer treatment. This is our new gingerbread cookie recipe!

Royal Icing III

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2006
Goes very well with gingerbread cookies... made half a batch (32 servings) and that was enough for a full batch of cookies... but we didn't cover the whole cookie. Also, we didn't sift the sugar (sifter was still wet from cleaning after use for our cookies). Great recipe!

Caroline's Chocolate Fudge Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
This icing is really good... but if I had to critique one thing, I'd like it to taste more chocolatey. But it is really good overall. We paired it with Mom's Chocolate Cake and it was a winner for my daughter's 10th birthday. Also, we ended up using less milk than the recipe called for.

Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
These waffles were surprisingly good. Despite the 4.5 star rating they enjoy, we didn't expect too much when looking at the picture of brown waffles. But seriously, these have good flavor and were a hit all around. I mean they're waffles... worst case, throw the bisquick recipe together if these don't pan out... but they did. We wanted a breakfast project, and these were it. We didn't warm the milk (so the butter hardened up in the egg/milk mixture... no problem... and we sifted the flour mixture together. All in all, a great looking/tasting waffle product. We'll make these again if we get a hankering for non-Bisquick waffles again.

Snickerdoodles V

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
Yup, really good snickerdoodle cookies. Our first batch turned out dough-y... I guess we undercooked them, so we added 4 minutes to the subsequent batches... viola, good! good recipe!

Blue Ribbon Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
this recipe turned out good. 1/8th inch thick makes the cookies crunchy, but still surprisingly soft on the inside. We'll probably make these again as one of an assortment for a holiday gathering. Also, we resorted to squishing the cookies with our hands as using a glass consistently resulted in torn cookies. Oh well. Thanks for the recipe!

Teriyaki Marinade

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2006
Easy, excellent marinade... I marinated 2" sirloin chunks in a baggy for a few hours and then shish-kabob'd them. I basted my kabobs during grilling for extra flavor (and smell!). Very highly rated.

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2006
Have made this numerous times. The original yield is ALOT of soup, so didn't make that mistake twice... usually size the recipe down for 1 can of chicken broth and that's enough for 3 healthy sized servings. Perfect for a rainy day recipe if you can't make it to your BBQ pit without getting your ribeyes too watery.

Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2006
Well, I made these and was the only one in the family who liked them (daughter called them mashed potato cookies). After about 7 or 8 of them, I couldn't eat anymore (probably a healthy reaction to eating 8 cookies). Texture melts in your mouth, but kinda 'sandy.' Seems people either hate it or love it. I'm keeping the recipe though: will make them again as part of a plate with other cookie offerings for family gathering/party. For a twist, on the third batch I hand-mixed a little melted chocolate into the batter for a swirl cookie.

Mom's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2006
The BEST chocolate cake, period. We used Caroline's Chocolate Fudge frosting as a topping and it turned out awesome. Next, we'll make this into cupcakes... so rich and delicious. Can't taste the coffee... but whatever it does, it worked! Highly recmmended! UPDATE: We made these into cupcakes... actually used half-recipe, and it made enough for 1 full pan of cupcakes. Cooked for about 15 minutes or so... they came out P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Didn't top them with anything, as they were very rich and delicious as they were. It's so cool to say you made something so good from 'scratch.' Of course the guys at the poker table look at you kinda funny when you tell them that... but that's their issue, not mine.
