us on our wedding day!
our wedding cake!
About this Cook
I recently married my soulmate (September 26). I am so blessed and grateful to have him! I am so excited about starting this new chapter in our lives together as husbdand & wife!
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new things! I am always on AR looking up a new recipe. I don't really have anything specific that would be my favorite to cook. It makes me happy anytime my husband tells me that "this is my new favorite!." Or if we are trying to decide on what to have for dinner and he will ask me if I have the right ingredients to make him something I have made him before that he really likes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My SIL is the most amazing cook I have ever met! She can cook anything! Ever since we have first met each other we have been getting together on each holiday, birthday, sporting event (or any excuse to get together ;) and cooking something up! Also my MIL makes my most favorite food ever-- Vegetable Beef Soup and cornbread she makes with cheese.. Everytime she makes it she always sends us a big bowl! And this past summer my husbands grandmother & my SIL canned some different things that I hope we can do again next year! I am very fortunate to have really great inlaws! ;)
My cooking triumphs
The first time I made pizza dough from scratch! It turned out so great and I was so proud of myself!
My cooking tragedies
One time when I was visiting my uncle he had a recipe for carrot cake and he wanted me to help him make it. This was back when I was 13 or 14 years old. I followed the recipe and the result was the most beautiful carrot cake you have ever seen(home made icing too)! It smelled so delicious but when my uncle took the first bite, then asked me how much baking powder I used I realized it was a disaster. It was so funny but sad making that beautiful cake that smelled so good but tasted so bad! Unfortunately baking is just not my thing!

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler
EASY & DELICIOUS! I could go on forever about how good this cobbler is! Everyone who tries it loves it! I have used fresh & frozen fruit (some times 2 cups, most of the time 3+), usually a combination (fresh peaches & frozen blueberries or blackberries being our favorites). Canned sweet potatoes are another favorite we like to use. I usually add a heavy teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter. And I sprinkle a generous spoonful of cinnamon (when you sprinkle on the sugar, right before baking), too. The crust is amazing & it has just the right amount of sweetness. The recipe as is, is perfection & can be easily doubled or altered (like adjusting the amount of butter, adding the vanilla extract & cinnamon, etc., etc., etc.,...) to your liking. I've tried several different cobbler recipes, this is the best so far, by far! It's so simple, usually have the ingredients on hand & you can mix it up with endless different filling ideas. I won't be looking for any new recipes for this any time soon. Absolutely a staple worthy recipe! Thank you, Pam Anderson!

Chicken Alfredo
Not a big fan of this sauce. I think I have reviewed a similar AR recipe that was so much better. You should simmer this sauce a little longer & STIR (the entire time, even continue to stir the first few minutes after removing it from heat) to make sure it mixes evenly enough. DH liked this dish ok, it turned out MUCH better the next day (like most alfredo/sauce recipes do). Since he was content with it & most of the leftovers were used up, it wasn't a complete fail at our home. Obviously, a lot of other folks really enjoyed it (considering the rating), so I had high hopes for it... It could be just being picky but I won't make it again knowing there are much better AR recipes for this dish that are just as simple & twice as good.

Candied Yams
Loved it! Definitely add a generous sprinkling of cinnamon before you dot with butter! Also, mash them coarsely to leave some texture & like another reviewer said, so the marshmallows don't melt & dissappear. You may need to add extra marshmallows like i did about 5 minutes before removing from oven. Next time, I may use 1/4 C white sugar & 1/4 C brown sugar. All in all, a GREAT recipe for canned sweet potatoes! Very simple & short prep & cooking time! We will absolutely add this to our list of favorites to enjoy again & again. Thank you!
