Ginger Glazed Chicken with Pineapple Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
We made this last night and loved it. We only made a few minor changes. First, we only put one tablespoon of sesame oil. (we changed the serving size to 4) Previous experience has taught us that sesame oil is very overpowering. It's great, but a little goes a LONG way. We also only used about 2 tablespoons of cilantro - and we love cilantro. I made the full 6 servings of pineapple salsa. From reading the reviews, it seems like others are leaving out the picante salsa. My husband was very leary of using a Mexican salsa with an Asian type dish, so he put his on the side. It wouldn't have been as wonderful without the salsa. Now we put the picante on the chicken and the pineapple on top of that. It's a great combination of sweet and spicy. We LOVED this dish. Having the leftovers tonight... Thanks for a keeper recipe.

Rib Eye Steaks with a Soy and Ginger Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
We thought this marinade was really good except for the overwhelming flavor of sesame oil. We like to normally try a recipe by the book first and then adjust as we feel needed if at all. We both like sesame oil, so it wasn't bad, but that particular oil is very overpowering and we didn't taste the ginger or soy at all. We will definitely make this again, just using a sparse amount of the sesame oil. (A little goes a LONG way!) Thanks for the recipe!!

Romantic Chicken with Artichokes and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2006
I made this dish for my husband and myself last night and it turned out great. I did make a few minor changes based on previous reviews. I put black pepper and garlic powder directly on the chicken then dredged in flour before adding to butter/oil. We didn't eat this with any kind of pasta and the consistency of the sauce turned out fine. I did use all of the wine and artichoke reserve also adding some lemon juice and LOTS of minced garlic and thought the taste was fantastic. I think that if you don't know what to expect or aren't too sure if you like white wine/artichokes, this might not be the dish for you. Also, I didn't add capers only b/c we don't care for them. I will absolutely make this again!

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
I was hoping that I could change my husband's opinion on meatloaf, but didn't work. I thought it was okay but I can't make it all for myself!

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
This was my husbands first experience with lamb - he loved it!! I think I might have not reduced the sauce enough, but it tasted great. It looks like from the picture that the sauce should be thicker. We are going to make these again.

Savory Garlic Marinated Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
This marinade is excellent. We went by the book and used rib-eyes, although we don't prefer them. Next time we will use strip steaks. Great flavor!

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2006
We love shrimp and what a wonderful change of pace! We made tacos with these - corn tortillas, sour cream, cheese and salsa went excellent with this recipe. Absolutely will make again.

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2006
Excellent. Very easy as well. I used a little less butter and a little more olive oil... Just my preference. SO TASTY!!! We tried it again without the mozzarella cheese and agreed that it's better with the cheese.

Pork Chops Stuffed with Smoked Gouda and Bacon

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2006
This is excellent! My husband smokes his own cheese so he was very excited to have such a great recipe to use his cheese with. This has become one of our favorites. Just a side note: at our house we use pecan branches from our yard to cook in our grill instead of charcoal - mostly. The pecan gives our food a great smoked taste. This DOES NOT go good with this recipe. We made this mistake the other night. Cooking it like this with the smoked cheese makes it WAY too smokey. The flavor is best on a gas or charcoal grill.
