Me and my boys love to go out to eat. Since there's five of us, that's just not too practical. So, to compensate, I like to try lots of new recipes that I think my family will enjoy. This site is a wonderful resource. Instead of begging to go to this or that restaurant, my kids now ask me to make something, usually from Allrecipes!
My favorite things to cook
I recently learned to make a pasta dish that's just about identical to my favorite thing to order at Macaroni Grill. We all dig into that like there's no tomorrow! Homemade pizza, using Jay's Signature Pizza Crust, is on the menu a lot, so, really anything my family likes are my favorite things to cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, my mom used to make cinnamon rolls, especially for Christmas morning. She also made Molasses Crinkles and peanut brittle pretty much every year. In keeping with that tradition, I now make her rolls and cookies but haven't stepped up to the candy.
My cooking triumphs
After many flops, my pie crust is pretty darn near perfect. Debbie's Cherry Pie is expected at Christmas gatherings without fail!
My cooking tragedies
Scraping failed attempts at pie crust into the trash are the tragedies that I remember best. There was also the time I volunteered to bring cinnamon rolls to a teacher appreciation breakfast: little rocks with icing. Ugh!
