Oyster Sauce Fish

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
I'm usually a very good cook, but I tried this, and it just wasn't good. Neither my fiancee nor I enjoyed it. Sorry!

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
This recipe rocks. I cooked it for three other people and they all raved about how juicy and tasty this ham was. You can go with or without the cloves, but I would recommend scoring the meat so the juices really soak in. I actually like this better than the name-brand Honeybaked Ham.

Chicken Breasts with Herb Basting Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2006
This dish was pretty bland, and the drippings weren't really enough to use for basting. If I were to make this again (which I wouldn't), I'd probably use the ingredients as a marinade.

Apricot Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
This is a very OK dish; not bad, not spectacular. I prefer my pork chops to have a lot more spice and flavor, but if you enjoy milder food you might like this.

Italian Beef Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2007
My husband and I love these sandwiches! I ended up making 2 sandwiches on huge hoagie buns. Even better if you butter up the buns, add a little cheese, and toast lightly before adding the beef. I love that it's so quick to make.

Famous Japanese Restaurant-Style Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
Maybe I did something wrong, but I did not care for this salad dressing. Usually I'm a fantastic cook and but this wasn't what I thought it would be at all. I won't be trying it again.

Roasted Chicken with Risotto and Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
I really didn't like this recipe at all, and used incredibly good balsamic vinegar. I'll be saving that for my vinaigrettes now.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
I halved the amount of mushrooms used, but otherwise I followed the directions and this turned out great on my first try. This is going to become a regular in our household. Great recipe.

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
Oh my God these are SO GOOD. They're delicious when you first take them out, they're delicious the day after cold, and they're yummy when they're reheated in the microwave for 30 seconds. I used walnuts this time, which I liked. At the husband's request next time, I think I'll leave the nuts out of the filling and use pecans in the syrup. I bet it'd be good with raisins rolled into the filling as well.

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
Fan-freaking-tastic! This is a great teriyaki-style marinade. We also grilled the veggies separately and doubled the marinade, reserving a few tablespoons for brushing over the meat after it came off the grill. We added some garlic & ginger powders as well. The only change I'd make is to marinate the chicken for 3 or so hours.

Homemade Pancake Mix

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
This easy recipe is way better than Bisquick. It's so easy to whip some up in the morning. Next time I'm going to try replacing the milk with buttermilk and see if I get better results. UPDATE: Yep, buttermilk makes the pancakes better. Slam dunk!

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
Quick, easy, and it tastes just like when I make it from scratch -- but it takes 1/4 of the time! I usually add some dried sage and parsley and double the butter. Save some for lunch because it tastes even better the next day.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
I usually don't go for recipes that involve pre-made ingredients (like the dough & soda) but these are amazing. Every time I make these people go crazy for them and ask for the recipe.

Cajun Spiced Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
This is a fantastic, easy dish. Sometimes I grill them, other times I pan fry them. One of my husband's favorites.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
This is, by far, one of the most popular dishes I make. It's easy to make it large batches and everybody loves it. I go through the effort of cooking & shredding the chicken myself, which I think makes a big difference in the texture of the soup. It has become a winter staple in our house, and it is great for leftovers.

Fruit Salad in Seconds

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
This recipe was OK. I made a bunch of it for a potluck, and didn't get many raves but I didn't get any complaints either. I added some blueberries and used low-fat strawberry yogurt, and one low-fat vanilla yogurt.

World's Best Lasagna

Hands-down the best lasagna I have ever made. The leftover sauce was fantastic; the mix of beef and sausage is delicious. Highly recommended!

Greek Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: May 6, 2010
This was just OK as-is. When you could get a bite of pasta, tomato, & feta at once it was yummy. I just didn't think there was enough of the saucy stuff to go with the pasta. Next time I'd add more feta, add kalamata olives, and some of the juices from the jar of artichoke hearts.

Pork Roast with Thyme

Reviewed: May 7, 2010
I did not like this at all. It was very bland, and it took much less time to cook than the recipe called for. I usually love pork recipes that call for stuffing the meat with garlic, but this one was not a hit at my dinner table.

Buttery Corn Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2010
I did not like this cornbread at all. It didn't hold together well, and wasn't anything like I had as a kid in the South.
