Apple Enchilada Dessert

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2002
This is absolutely awesome! The taste is fabulous, it's sooooo easy, and everyone loves it (especially a la mode). The one thing I might change, if I had the time, is instead of using tortillas, I might make crepes, as the tortillas were a bit tough to cut. But it was definately worth it, and it cuts the time in half.

Blueberry Breakfast Sauce

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
We love this sauce on French Toast or ice cream. Delicious warm or cold. The first time I made it we thought it was too sweet, so I cut the sugar in half. I once was out of cornstarch and it still made a nice sauce, just a little thinner. I was looking for something without spices or orange juice to take away from the blueberry flavor and this is just perfect. It's so easy to make all of my kids have made it at least once.

Mushroom Sauce Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2010
Made this almost exactly as stated (added second can of soup per previous reviews, and only had one onion). Excellent! Chops were so tender, potatoes perfect after stated cooking time, gravy was excellent. Can't wait to make it again! Thanks for the recipe!

Almond French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2002
YUM! I didn't have any almonds on hand, which is a bummer for me because I'm a nut for nuts, but good for my kids because they think nuts will kill them. Next time, I will definately make sure I have some for mine! I also didn't leave it in the fridge long enough, because we couldn't wait! I left it in for about 20 minutes. The bread did stick to the waxed paper, but not that bad. My only problem was that the batter only coated about 7 slices, not 12 as the recipe states. But that's okay. I'll double it with no problem. I think it was missing something, though I'm not quite sure what. I think I'll try using a little nutmeg next time like another rating suggested. The kids used butter and maple syrup, my husband used butter and powdered sugar, and I used margarine and apricot preserves. The best part of it all is that my hubby loves French toast, but neither myself nor my kids care for it. Now we can all be happy. Thanks for a great recipe.

Caramel Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2001
From the reviews, I thought this recipe would be time consuming and difficult. I had no problem what-so-ever. I whipped up the dough in less than 15 minutes, put it in the fridge overnight, and rolled it into a log and sliced it to fit over the candies in the morning. The most time-consuming part was unwrapping the individual candies. Not a single one leaked, and I used Rolos. Knowing my mother is a die-hard caramel fanatic, I had to make it for our annual Christmas cookie exchange. I always try to make something new. But after today, it looks like this will be the annual, since everyone asked for the recipe, and I only had 3 cookies left after everyone left. My batch made 52 cookies, and I will make it time and again. Thanks so much for a wonderful addition to my holiday baking.

Warm and Spicy Autumn Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2001
This isn't what you'd expect from something called "Punch", but it's really good. I didn't think it was spicy enough, so next time I'll add more cinnamon sticks. The kids drank it up! First time for everything, I guess. Perfect for my daughter's autumn birthday (Oct 30), and the kids think it takes like apple cider.

Mixed reviews with our family on this one, but everyone agreed it would be good to have again.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2010
I gave it 5 stars because it was quite good as is and was very easy to make. I'm keeping the recipe in my file. This bread is sweet and very dense, but has a good taste to it. I would imagine it would make good sandwich bread, but my kids gobbled it up so fast I didn't have any to try out!

Apricot Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2001
This is superb! I hate pork, but my husband and children love it. I was in a hurry, looking for a change of pace that I could make quickly, and found it! Want to hear the biggest compliment of all? I ate 2 chops! To top it off, it's on our menu for next week again. Wonderful combination of ingredients, and my kids gobbled it up. Finally, a pork recipe that I can enjoy with my family.

Donna's Chocolate Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2001
This was a great recipe. It's easy, quick, and sooo good! I made it for my brother in law, who loves zucchini bread but won't eat anything I make. He took half a loaf to work for lunch! Even my kids ate it. What a wonderful way to eat veggies.

Bubble Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2001
I altered the recipe slightly....the kids won't eat onions, and I don't like ground beef, so I left that part out. I poured the sauce over the biscuits and added my own toppings and cheese, and everyone loved it! Even my picky hubby wanted more. I had to make some for lunch the next day. Thanks so much for a new twist on an old favorite.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
I'm extremely picky about guacamole, and my favorite restaurant is over an hour away. So when I recently had a craving, I searched this site for recipes. I came across a few that sounded good, but this one had all the ingredients I would expect. I did take other reviewer's advice and added a touch of cumin. And my avocados were tiny, so I used only one tomato. Very very good. I wouldn't change a thing! Thanks so much for the recipe!

Ramen Coleslaw

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2001
I tried 2 different versions of this before I found this recipe, and loved them both. Then, when I made this one, I was in heaven! My hubby, who hates raw cabbage, couldn't eat it, but both my grandmother and sister, who adore regular coleslaw as much as I do, asked for the recipe! I even made a version without seeds or nuts for my grandmother who doesn't like either, and it's just as good.

Crispy Cucumbers and Tomatoes in Dill Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2001
This was so wonderful! My husband, who would rather starve than eat vegetables, requested it again. My 4 year old, who is a vegetable fanatic like her mother, didn't really like it much, but she isn't fond of vinegar. Definately a keeper.

Easy Toffee Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2001
I tried these at work from a friend, and loved them. When I found the recipe here, I had to try it. So easy, and so good! They taste exactly like the Chocolate Werther's candies I adore. My mom, who can't eat a lot of candy because it makes her teeth hurt, even requested the recipe!

Apricot Cream Cheese Thumbprints

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2002
I found this recipe a little too late to make it for my Christmas cookie exchange, but I can guarantee it will be on the list next year! I usually make regular thrumbprint cookies with confectioners' icing, which are delicious, but these are a little more special. They could almost be considered delicate, with the cream cheese taste, and the beautiful apricot filling. My kids loved them, and I couldn't get enough! The only bad thing is the New Year's Resolution...

Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2001
I am so impressed. I was looking for a sidedish for the kabobs we were going to make (I have a favorite marinade I use for my gyros and such) but found this. I saw it had a high rating, and talked my husband into trying it. I love anything with honey. He thought it turned out a little dry, but I loved it! So did the kids. We will definately make these again, but hubby will take his off the grill sooner than the rest of us.

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Had all the ingredients to make this and discovered my skewers were missing. So, I made a stir fry out of the ingredients, using the reserved marinade as a sauce. Turned out excellent. Flavors went together quite well. Even the picky eaters liked it. Will be making again, and would love to try it as actual kabobs!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2002
I would highly recommend this to everyone. Although it took some time to chop everything, it was well worth it. I was waiting for the fruits to come into season so I could try it. I omitted the raspberries, as I don't like all the seeds, but used raspberry seedless jam. Perfect. Only the tortilla chips weren't what I was expecting. They were good, and we ate them up quickly, but it wasn't what was described in the reviews. I used the leftover salsa on my waffle in the morning...wonderful! I will definately make this time and again, even the chips, but also thinking of serving with something else. Just don't know what....
