Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2001
I always make Potato Soup; it's a staple in our family. My husband often requests I add ham or bacon to my soup, which I sometimes do, and that prompted me to try this one. I used half and half instead of the cream, and only used half the bacon that was called for, since I am not a meat lover. It was fantastic! My husband requested I make this one from now on, and suggested throwing away the old recipe. It didn't take much more preparation than any regular soup, either. I will definately make this again and again.

Apricot-Pineapple Dream

My mother has made this recipe for years, but she uses apricot or peach flavored jello. Extremely easy and tastes great.

Ham Salad II

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2001
My husband had never had homemade ham salad, and we had a ton of ham left over from the holidays, so this seemed ideal. He is the cook, for the most part, and couldn't stop raving about it. I felt the same way once I tasted it!

Chocolate Rum Balls I

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2001
Oh my goodness!! I've had rum balls before, but never quite this good. I found this recipe at the last minute and found I didn't have any rum. With the stores all closed, I used Kahlua in 1 recipe and Ameretto in another. I got rave reviews! Thanks for my new favorite recipe.

Cherry Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2000
I made this cake late one night in desperation for something chocolate. I had all the ingredients on hand, and used a canned chocolate buttercream frosting. I had one piece, and it was excellent. The next morning, I was telling my husband how great it was, but he never got to try it...my 2 year old had climbed on top of the dishwasher and tore into it! There was nothing left!

Blooming Onion and Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2000
My entire family loved the onion, as we always enjoy this treat when we are at a festival. The sauce, I thought, tasted a little too much like mayonaisse, but it was still pretty good. After we fried the onion, we saw we had bits and pieces of onion left over, so we batter dipped those, and fried them, too!
