Apple Cake V

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
Made this cake yesterday & adjusted the sugar amt. as per reviews. Cake is a winner. The glaze was wonderful. But...besides adding cinnamon, next time I will add raisins & chopped dates. This cake is party worthy.

Cucumbers in Sour Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
This recipe has been in our family for over 40 yrs. But my goodness, whats with all of the sugar. This is not dessert. Less is more ! Also WAY TOO much sour cream , a goodly dollop will do. Also I always add garlic powder to give it the best flavor. Otherwise it is a great recipe. (from my precious Hungarian mother in law).

Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
My husband has been making these for over 50 yrs. He makes the crepes & I make the home made jam. Works great. Biggest secret to crepes is to not let the batter get too thick. A dusting of Powdered sugar is a must after the roll up. Enjoy.

Mushrooms with a Soy Sauce Glaze

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
LOL I didn't know there was a 'recipe' for this. I've been making my mushrooms like this for 30 years. Can't get a better topping for steak or even a good old fried hamburger. Its a hit every time.

Paprika Chicken with Sour Cream Gravy

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
I have been making this recipe for 30 yrs. but I ALWAYS substitute Campbell's Cream of Celery for a very delicate gravy. WE like the dark meat so I brown a whole chicken (pieces) & add a LARGE sauteed diced onion to the mix. True Paprika demands the onion. Also never spare the paprika. :))))))

Pork Chops to Live For

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
This has been a standby for 30 yrs. at my house. But my husband & I like a delicate gravy so I NEVER ever, use Cream of Mushroom. I always use Cream of Celery & add 2 big teaspoons of paprika & VOILA...you have a perfect, easy paprika pork or paprika chicken dinner. I also just season & flour the meat, then brown. I rarely use the crockpot as this simmers well for a fast meal. Also I don't add milk. Water works great. Add a tad more salt & pepper.

OMG..these were a party for the mouth. I followed directions explicitly except for one ingredient. I added one teasp. baking soda just because I am unable to not tinker with a recipe. They are SOOOOOOOO good. :)))) Jackie

Amber's Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2006
OHHHH MY ! This was excellent. Loved it. Some minor tweaking, I used Wok oil with margarine added as needed. Will add more onion next time. Yum. Also added sliced celery. Next time will add mushrooms. Took the advice of others & to stretch the sauce, I added 1/4 cup of Teriyaki sauce. Will def. make again. Tx. Very good.

Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2006
This recipe is terrific. Will make lots of times. I too substituted beer for the wine, also think this recipe cries out for mushrooms so I added those. Next time I will throw in a handful of capers and a few sliced olives with pimentoes. Great recipe. Husband loved it.
