Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
Very good recipe. I misread the ingredients though, thought it called for 2 baking potatoes, so I added diced raw potatoes instead of cooked. They only took 10 minuted of simmering to soften and, although I ended up with a different consistency than what was expected, it was still delicious.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
Very tasty cake. I used my food processor to combine the butter, sugar, and eggs and then did the rest by hand. It came out very much like the pound cake from the stores. I didn't have lemon extract on hand so I used 1/4 tsp of almond extract instead which worked very well. One I'll be making often!

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
This was very good, had to change a couple of things just for personal preference though. We went with rosemary and parm croutons and all I had on hand for cheese was mozza and parm. It was great either way, the longer it simmers, the tastier it gets.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2007
I was looking for just a sunflower bread so I did leave out the flax seed this time and it was really good. I'll probably try it with the flax next time, because there definitely will be a next time :)

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2007
Every bit as good as I expected! Not cakey like usual cinnamon rolls, but light and fluffy. And the icing! Wow, definitely perfect for the roll. If you like the mall cinnamon rolls, this is the recipe for you.

Festive Shortbread

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2006
Just what a shortbread is supposed to be: not too sweet, and when you break it apart, you can see the flaky layers :) What I liked about this one is that it keeps its shape and crumbles IN your mouth, not before you get it there. And, if you're a clumsy one like me, no worries...when you drop them, they don't break! After years of searching, this is going to be my shortbread recipe. Thanks a lot!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2006
This is the recipe I've been searching for! I didn't have almond flavouring, but other than that, followed it exactly. I didn't find it needed to be altered, mine came out a perfect consistency. Dipped the shortbread, used a knife to spread it right to the edges, and a paintbrush for the details. As another reviewer said, it definitely goes further than you think it will. This is my staple icing recipe from now on, 5 stars all the way!

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2006
Even though my crumble didn't crumble (it was very mushy, kind of sank into the apple part) this was still a good tasting recipe. I might try it again with more flour and a little less butter.

Crisp Little Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2006
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed these. They work up quick and have great flavour. Like another reviewer, I did notice that the crispies were very chewy, but I didn't find it took away from the cookie. Great recipe!

Chicken with Pepper Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2006
This was really really good! Unfortunately, I did have to change part of it even though I hated to. I didn't have flour, so instead of coating the chicken, I flavoured the oil in the pan with salt, pepper, and cayenne, which worked fine. Once the sauce was finished (had to use a little corn starch to thicken), I put my cooked linguini in the pan with the sauce and coated it. I only cook for two so there was a little left over, but my bf took that for lunch the next day and said it was even better. Good man :) When I make it again (and again, and again and...) I think I might try chopped mushrooms in it too.

Jalapeno Poppers I

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2006
These were really good. I didn't have corn flakes, so I breaded them with italian bread crumbs, dunked in the egg mix again and then breaded once more. The crust stayed on beautifully! An idea too, I left the stems on as best I could so I had something to hold on to while dipping and breading. Definitely a lot healthier than the fried version. This is a regular at my house now.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2006
What a great tasting roast! I just moved out on my own and I was having my parents over last night for supper and decided to try my hand at a roast. They LOVED it! The only thing I did different was to add a soup can full of beef broth instead of the water. It made the gravy a little more salty, but the roast was very flavourful. The gravy came out a little thin, but we didn't bother to thicken it, I find it works better over mashed potatoes when it can sink right in :). This is definitely one of my favourite recipes!
