This was a good starter dish. We followed the recipe fairly closely, only added some mushrooms and broccoli for texture and to add some oomf. It was alright. We had a TON of sauce left over though and decided to use it to stuff jumbo shells the next day. With some tomatoes, salt & pepper and fresh basil stirred it it made FANTASTIC filling for the shells. We cooked the shells, stuffed them with the sauce, topped them with cheese and stuck them under the broiler for a few minutes. Superb! We'll be making this sauce again, just with the additions of mushrooms, broccoli, tomatoes, chopped fresh basil & pepper, and all of it mushed into jumbo shells instead of topping fettuccini. So that's why only 3 stars, way too many modifications to make it yummy.
