Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
WoW!!! Great recipe! I've made deviled eggs plenty of times and didn't really think they could get any better, but they have. The bacon makes them that much better! The batch I made were gone in a blink, I will definitely be making these again and again. I followed the recipe exactly and added a little yellow food coloring for presentation per another reviewers suggestion. I also added more mustard than instructed because I am a mustard lover, but they would be just as fabulous without this change. Thanks for sharing!

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
Delicious!! Great recipe! I made it almost exactly as-is and divided the batter between two loaf pans, yum! I read all of the most helpful reviews first, but decided against making any substantial changes. My son and I are big fans of Starbucks' iced lemon pound cake and I wanted to see if I could emulate it. Consequently, I added an extra 1/2 teaspoon each of the vanilla and lemon extracts. I love the lemon flavoring so next time I will probably add even more extract and some fresh lemon juice! I did follow the advice of another reviewer and dusted the pan lightly with powdered sugar after greasing. This created a great thin crust and helped the cake fall right out of the pan. The only other thing I did following a review was to brush on a thin icing made from powdered sugar, lemon juice, and a little water, mixed to a glue-like consistency. This made the perfect cake even better in my opinion. However, my son (he's 4) still liked Starbucks' better because of the thick icing, so next time I'll make my icing thicker and apply numerous layers of it for him. This is a fabulous pound cake that is good from the start, but gets even better, if that's even possible, and more moist after a couple of days. I will be using this recipe for my pound cake for years to come, just as is. All those that try to alter ingredients so much lose the true essence of the recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Easy Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Excellent and Super Easy! I'm a fan of quick, delicious meals and this fits the bill perfectly. I doubled the recipe because I had the ingredients to do so, and my family loves leftovers. It was fabulous! If my 3year old gobbles it up I always consider it a success, and this was no exception! I mixed the tuna and soup in a bowl before adding them to the pasta for even distribution, and this worked best for me. The onions on top are the best part in my opinion, adding flavor and a little crunch. I didn't quite have enough to double the onions, but next time I will make sure I do. The more, the better! Thanks for sharing!

Easy Chicken Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Great recipe! I actually doubled the recipe and had enough to make two very large casseroles and one medium casserole. I was able to bless a family that just had a baby, keep one for us, and send one to my sister too! I followed other reviewers suggestions and used 1 can of cream of chicken and 1 can of cream of mushroom soup. I also followed advice and cooked the pasta in broth for more flavor, yummy! I also added sliced mushrooms to my casserole under the cheese and that made a perfect recipe even better! I will be making this again, probably really soon for two friends having babies. This is something they can freeze and bake at their leisure for ease. Thanks for sharing!

Easy Pork Chop Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
WoW! This is definitely one of my new favorite recipes! I decided to make it because of it's ease and variety, never expecting it to be SO delicious! I followed the recipe to a T and it was great! The chops came out so tender and my 3year old and 10month old couldn't stop eating it, not to mention my husband. The only issue was that it was slightly too salty, probably from the onion soup mix. Next time I will try to find a lower sodium version or a low sodium soup if available. Despite the saltiness, it was still excellent and I will be making it again and again! Thanks for sharing diggetydog!

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Love It! And my family did too! My husband's coworkers even asked him to bring some in for them, so I will be making another one (or two) soon. I doubled the recipe, used a 9x13 dish, and used slightly more bananas than instructed to cover every bit of the bottom of the pan. I made a slight mistake and mixed all the pudding ingredients without beating the cream cheese first. Consequently, there were tiny specks of cream cheese that didn't fully blend in. Once prepared, you couldn't even tell, but next time I won't omit this step. I also placed vanilla wafers around the edge as is shown in the photo and it looked as scrumptious as it tasted. Will be using this recipe from now on for my banana pudding. Thank you!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
Perfect recipe! I tripled the recipe and fried them in three batches. I don't have a deep fryer so I just fried them on the stove and used a candy/oil thermometer to check the temp. I also covered half of them in the hot sauce (using Texas Pete) as directed, and the other half in barbecue sauce for my kids. To make the barbecue sauce I just substituted bottled sauce for the hot sauce in the butter mixture. I agree with other reviewers that the key is to refrigerate the wings for the full time to get a good coating. I will be making these again and again!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
This recipe is a keeper! I made it as-is with a few additions and it was great! With a few other minor tweaks next time it will be divine! This time I used 3 very large chicken breasts and 2 cans of cream of chicken soup along with some garlic, thyme, pepper and celery salt. Next time I think I'll follow other suggestions to use one can of cream of chicken and one can of cream of celery soup along with another chicken breast even though they were large. I personally like the chicken shreaded so once I removed it I added the biscuits, shredded the chicken with two forks, and then added it back on top so the biscuits would be covered and cook through. The biscuits definitely need at least an hour and a half to cook, maybe more. I will definitely be using this recipe again and again! Thank you!

Portobello Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
YUMMY, this deserves over 5 stars in my opinion! It is a simple recipe, but sooo delicious! I followed the recipe except I ommitted the capers out of personal preference and the lettuce because I didn't have any. I topped the caps with swiss cheese and roasted red peppers (jarred) in addition to the tomato and mayo, magnificent! I served them with baked sweet potato fries for a healthy version of a burger and fry meal. The other reviewers are right in that it takes a hearty bun to hold this juicy "burger"! I will be making these again and again!

Pinwheel Italian Calzones

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Great recipe, easy, and perfect for kids! I wouldn't say I'll never go back to regular calzones again because these are different and I love calzones, but they are great! The crescent roll dough adds a slight bit of sweetness which mixes well with the pizza ingredients. I will say that the onion is a strong flavor so if you aren't a big fan of onions it may be better to saute them first or omit them all together. I LOVE onions so I was happy with the recipe the way it was. Everyone in my family preferred them without dipping them in pizza sauce too, next time I may add a little marinara to the filling instead. This would also be a good recipe for a hearty appetizer or finger-food for a party.

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Good start for a mexican casserole, but not the best I've had. It just seemed like there was something missing, and I even added taco seasoning as other reviewers suggested. I used fresh tomato, but next time I will use canned and a bunch more cheese. I actually like how the chips become a little soggy when baked, that was the best part to me.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Yumm! I made this recipe just as instructed and followed another reviewers advice for putting 2 slices of bread in the bottom to soak up grease. Great tip! I used 1 tbsp of A1 and 1 tbsp of 57 for the steak sauce. I also added a ketchup glaze and stuck it back in the oven for 10 minutes after it was fully baked, out of personal preference. Basic recipe, but delicious!

Chocolate Layered Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Wow!!! Great recipe and really easy! It tastes like it's from a restaurant. I read other reviews, but made no big changes other than using two 4oz boxes of pudding instead of one 6oz box. Consequently, I changed the milk amount to 1 cup. I think the pudding is supposed to have a very thick consistency for flavor and to help the pie hold shape. I used a spatula and my fingers to spread the pudding layer. The best part by far was the crust! I didn't have pecans so I used mostly crushed walnuts with some macadamia nuts and pecans too. Fabulous and Easy!! I will use this crust for many other pies to come! My only complaint is that there was no estimate of time for browning the crust, so I had to check on it repeatedly. It ended up taking around 40 minutes to brown in the middle.

French Onion Soup III

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
Yummy! My husband said he'd never even had it before, and LOVED it! As good as, if not better than, a restaurant french onion soup. I don't feel it needs any changes, but I did add a few seasonings as suggested by other reviewers. I also used more broth and less water. I will definitely be making this one again and again!

Brunch Strata

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
Super yummy! I made this for brunch at our MOPS group and saved the other pan for our family. Needless to say, EVERY bit was eaten by both parties!! Delicious! I followed some of the other commenters and assembled everything the night before and baked the next morning, and it turned out perfectly. I used bacon instead of ham, but want to try it with ham once and sausage the next. It would probably be good with all three! I will definitely be making this again and again.

Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2009
Nothing but raves!!! I agree with other reviews that Jimmy Dean spicy sausage works best and isn't too spicy. Also, the tip to work the sausage and Bisquick together first and then the cheese was an excellent tip. Will be making these for many years to come!
