About this Cook
I am a working mom (a family nurse practitioner) with 2 daughters and 2 step daughters. My husband is a full time college student and coaches softball and football. My kids( all 4) are very active and we lead a busy life. We love sports,love to camp, and volunteer in our community. My husband is a hunter and I am learning. My mother is not a great cook so I am self taught and love to try new things.
My favorite things to cook
I love making big southern meals- meat, potatoes, veggies, bread and dessert. I don't get to do that often so I'm learning how to use the slow cooker. I've also become a fan of Rachel Ray and her 30 minute meals. Because my husband hunts, I've gotten pretty good at cooking deer. We like to have friends over to watch ballgames and I love to fix tons of appetizers and munchies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition is Christmas morning breakfast: sausage casserole, bread, fruit, bloody mary's and mimosa's.
My cooking triumphs
I handle all the cooking for major holidays and family get togethers. It is so exciting to lay out a huge spread of foods and watch the family enjoy everything.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I cooked a deer roast was a disaster. Someone had told me to soak it in vinegar to get the "gamey" taste out. It tasted like pickled leather!

Maple-Garlic Marinated Pork Tenderloin
This was amazing. Marinated overnight and served on homemade rolls with sweet mustard sauce. Was a huge hit Christmas night!

Red BBQ Slaw
Awesome BBQ Slaw! Added a little celery seed and liquid smoke just because I like those flavors in my slaw! Had just the right amount of heat and great Carolina flavor.
