About this Cook
I'm Ptysia, a 20 year old student and I spend my time cooking and pursuing my literary dreams. I'm a connoisseur of both and I intend to upgrade to a state-of-the-art kitchen as soon as I top the best seller list.
My favorite things to cook
Anything sweet - baking is a vice of mine, I must admit. I'll try almost anything and I frown upon recipes that seem too easy. My tastes range from home cooked goodies of my childhood (Polish food, YUM!) to exotic cuisines from around the world. With a little bit of effort and soul searching in foreign aisles, I seem to have a knack at creating culinary nirvana.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The whole holiday dinner spiel. Barszcz, BIGOS and of course, Ptysie.
My cooking triumphs
Anything edible I've mastered.
My cooking tragedies
You need three things to be a successful cook: preparation, patience and persistence!

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men
Great taste!! I recommend rolling them out thicker and making sure the outer edges remain thicker as they can get crisy. I also think that 8 minutes makes a perfect cookie that is soft and firm. Over all, great recipe.

Spinach Casserole
Really yummy, albeit with the variations I made. I didn't have creamy mushroom soup so I sauteed some mushrooms over butter, and gradually added a little flour and stirred in some milk which formed a thick and creamy mushroom sauce. I also didn't have fried onion so I used plain ol' bread crumbs. It came out really well though, although the bread crumbs on top did not brown and the appearance was unappealing.

Sauceless Garden Lasagna
Amazing recipe. Was so delicious...even my picky boyfriend loved it, although he said it would be amazing with meat in it. *Sigh* I tried. I also increased a little bit of everything - especially the cheese, garlic. I would add a little more feta next time as well, even though I doubled to one cup. I didn't have any trouble with the cookless lasagna noodles, but next time I'll try whole wheat.
