I've always enjoyed cooking and now that my children are grown I enjoy using my extra time experimenting a little more in the kitchen, and working hard on broadening my cooking horizons. My two favorite cooking methods are grilling in warm weather and slow cooking in cold weather. I work full time outside the home,so most of my "fun" cooking is done on the weekends and holidays.
My favorite things to cook
I don't know that I have a favorite thing to cook. I really enjoy everything from baking, to grilling. I've recently taken on yeast breads and have enjoyed trying various recipes in that regard.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Roast beef with potatoes and carrots was always a Sunday tradition growing up and I've carried that over with my family. Don't do it quite so much anymore, since the kids are grown and the golf course seems to call my name on Sundays, now :D
My cooking triumphs
I don't know about any particular triumphs, but my most requested recipes are my beef enchiladas, my baked beans and my pepper steak.
My cooking tragedies
The one that comes to mind is when I was making vegetable beef soup in the crock pot (one of our favorite meals). After chopping all the veggies the night before, I got up in the morning, threw everything in the crockpot, went to work and couldn't wait to go home to the yummy smell of soup, not to mention the satisfaction in knowing that dinner would already be done when I got home. Well, much to my dismay, I was not welcomed with the wonderful aroma of my soup, because I didn't turn my crockpot on! Needless to say, I was not a happy camper that day! I'm sure there are other cooking tragedies, but I try to block them out of my mind, so I can't think of any right now.

Quick Italian Pasta Salad
We really liked this quick and easy pasta salad. I had to improvise by using shredded mozzarella and only used the dressing, not the dry mix and it was still fantastic! Thanks for sharing, Trish!

California Smoothie
I loved the clean, tart flavor of this smoothie. I froze my strawberries first, as I like a thicker consistency and I used Greek lemon yogurt. This made two nice sized servings. Delish! Thanks for sharing, Janice!

Baked Potato Soup V
I have to agree with others that, as written, this soup comes out way too thick, for our liking. I had to add quite a bit of water to get it to a somewhat "soup-like" consistency. In addition, for our tastes, it did not have much flavor and I ended up doctoring it up with several spices. I did appreciate the method of microwaving the potatoes, as I found that to be a great time saver, especially since I cut the recipe in half and only had to nuke four potatoes.
