Orange Pumpkin Loaf

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
I would give this a five- but the whole orange thing made me drop it to a 4. I'm a pastry cook and let me tell you...there is no benefit to putting the whole orange in...it will just add bitterness. Peel the zest and segment the orange. Then blend it. I made it this way and it was delicious. It is a very moist and heavy bread. I used dried cranberries and it all went well together. Will become a regular for me.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
Absolutely amazing. I usually am not a person who loves fruit in savory dishes, but this turned out perfect. The fruit added extra depth of flavor and more of a tanginess than a sweetness. I cooked this outside the bird and added extra stock. Make sure to add enough salt and herbs.

Terrific Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
Very very good. Made exactly according to directions, except for adding a little hot sauce. I did not add beans, but next time I will add garbanzos because I think they will add a great addition of flavor and texture.

Pumpkin-Apple Muffins with Streusel Topping

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2007
I thought these were great......however I disagree with all of the reviews regarding cutting some of the sugar and oil. I followed these suggestions and thought that it could actually use the full amount of both. Next time I will follow that exactly. I used half wheat flour and I couldn't tell the difference. Also the mix is a little dry (which is why you need all of the oil and maybe extra pumpkin) so I added a little milk. Overall a very moist dense muffin that I would make again.

Chive-Cheese Corn Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
Just ok. Sorry. Thought it would be amazing by the reviews, but was sort of bland. Followed the recipe carefully. Next time would add jalapenos or more cheese or more something.

Pear Custard Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
This was amazing! Guests (one a chef) said it was the best pie they had had in a long time. They were surprised that pears could taste so good in a pie. Def would make again- a must try!

Strawberry Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2007
AWESOME! So good....made them into cupcakes and skipped the frosting and just used regular white from a can to save time. Used fresh strawberries. Everyone loved them and they were quick to go. Some people even had 3! Would definitely make again. A winner.

Strawberry Pie II

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2006
One word: AMAZING! THis pie is so delicious- it tastes similar to strawberry pie at Marie Calendars, but even better! I used Trader Joe's pie crust and thought it was so simple and quick. Loved it.

Banana Cake V

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2006
Good- but not as amazing as other reviewers thought. Cooked for 35 min and could have probably cooked for a little less. Used 1 cup sugar and sweet enough. Again, good but not amazing. Next time I might add some chocolate chips!
