Love Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2008
I tried this recipe before giving it as a gift. The macaroni was overdone and the tri-color pasta was undercooked. I had to cook it a lot longer to get the tri-color pasta to cook at all. My husband ate it, but I couldn't stomach it.

Angel Food Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
First, the recipe makes 3 dozen cupcakes, not a dozen. Second, I followed the instructions and wound up with dark, crispy cupcakes. I took the advice of other reviewers and baked at 350 instead of 375 for 15 minutes and the rest turned out okay.

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly. I didn't add a single thing. I used cream cheese frosting. The cake has a nice flavor and texture. The cream cheese frosting complimented it nicely.

Pasta Hot! Hot! Hot!

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
The parmesan overpowered the crushed red paper and it just became dry and bland. I think the measurements are off. This might work with less spaghetti, but as is it doesn't.

Reuben Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
I followed the recipe EXACTLY and got rave reviews from my entire family, including my uber-picky father-in-law who is never happy with anything - including restaurant food. This is definitely a keeper!

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2014
This is yummy comfort food, but I have to give it 3 stars, not 4, because I erred on the side of caution and cooked for 8 hours on low instead of high and it turned out great. The potatoes and carrots were fork tender, but not mush which they definitely would have been if I'd cooked on high for 8 hours as directed. The meat was moist and easy to shred with a fork.

Vegetable Cheese Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
I doubled the vegetables and it was still soupier than I would have liked. I prefer my soups thicker. I think next time I'll add triple the potatoes and carrots and throw in a can of whole corn, too. It's a good base recipe, though.

Black Bean and Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
I doubled the sauce recipe and used one can of beans. It was delicious and made for great leftovers for lunch. This is a great cool salad for summer.

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
My main complaint is that they stuck to the paper baking cups. Definitely spray your paper cups before making this recipe. These were not too sweet and tasted strongly of banana. I followed the recipe, except I added some chopped dates and Craisins. I personally thought they were a little bland even with the dates and Craisins.

Bob Evans® Favorite Chili Recipe

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
Fast, inexpensive and tasty! I followed the recipe EXACTLY. I used hot sausage and still would have liked more chili powder. Next time I'll add more. However, if you like your chili mild, the spices would be perfect.

Ground Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2012
These were very, very rich and yummy. I didn't have jalapenos so I used mild green chilis. Next time I will use jalapenos because the spice would have complimented the creaminess better. My husband hates cream of chicken, but loved the creamy sauce.

Oven Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2012
Yum! These were delicious and easy. I used some garlic salt instad of normal salt to give them more flavor. Mine stuck to the pan a little, so next time I will grease the pan better.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
I used the exact ingredients, but microwaved them. The first time I did 45 seconds, stir, 45 seconds, stir, like one reviewer said. The batter was lumpy and smelled a little burnt. I tossed that and the next time I chopped up the butter a little bit and did 15 seconds, stir, 15 seconds, stir, and then another 15 just to be on the safe side. The glaze was smooth and silky. I used it on cupcakes. All I did was dip the cupcake and lift it out. They were oh so smooth and shiny. Beautiful! Much easier than smearing thick frosting all over 24 cupcakes.

Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly. It was very flavorful and easy, but a little soupier than I prefer even though I drained the beans. I think it could be made with less broth and soup.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

I added a packet of taco seasoning to my ground beef. I served this with habanero shredded cheese and sour cream. It was great. I'll definitely make this again.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2010
I made this for a party and everyone raved about it. I used good root beer (Jones) made with pure cane sugar and a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's Chipotle bbq sauce. It was sweet with a subtle kick that wasn't too spicy. This is definitely a keeper!

Great! I threw in some frozen onions and peppers but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. My husband and I both liked it a lot. Easy and cheap!

Chocolate Babka

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
I used chocolate chips instead of chopping up the chocolate, which worked great. I put the streusel on one and topped the other with cinnamon and sugar. My husband and I preferred the one without the streusel. Next time I would make it with a little bit of sugar sprinkled on top, no cinnamon. Also be sure to roll the dough very thin, because that makes for a thicker middle and you can taste the chocolate more. This was a keeper, although I'll save it for special occasions because of the fat!
