Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2014
This is yummy comfort food, but I have to give it 3 stars, not 4, because I erred on the side of caution and cooked for 8 hours on low instead of high and it turned out great. The potatoes and carrots were fork tender, but not mush which they definitely would have been if I'd cooked on high for 8 hours as directed. The meat was moist and easy to shred with a fork.

Dark Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2014
The cake was delicious made EXACTLY as described. You don't taste the coffee, but it gives it a deep flavor. I baked it in a Bundt pan for 35 minutes. It was super easy, including clean up. This is a keeper!

Mushroom Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
I spiced this up with steak seasoning, which put it to 4 stars. Without extra seasoning, it would have been too bland (3 stars), so make sure you add more seasoning. I served it on top of garlic mashed potatoes, which really made it good.

E-Z Drop Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2014
I followed the recipe exactly and they were done in 11 minutes. "They were so fluffy I could DIE!" is what my husband said after eating them (Despicable Me reference).

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2014
I followed the recipe exactly and the bread is very yummy, but tastes quite strongly of the beer. It's something nice for a change, especially given how super easy the recipe is, but I don't know that I would make it regularly. Also, next time I think I will use some oatmeal on top, because the texture on top of the bread is quite unattractive.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2014
This bread is delicious! My husband isn't a huge wheat bread fan and he couldn't get enough of it. The butter on top is a wonderful idea and the sweet and salty flavors balance nicely. I got 2 loaves out of it, not 3, which is just fine by me.

I have to say this was TOO thick and cheesy for us.

Chocolate Babka

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
I used chocolate chips instead of chopping up the chocolate, which worked great. I put the streusel on one and topped the other with cinnamon and sugar. My husband and I preferred the one without the streusel. Next time I would make it with a little bit of sugar sprinkled on top, no cinnamon. Also be sure to roll the dough very thin, because that makes for a thicker middle and you can taste the chocolate more. This was a keeper, although I'll save it for special occasions because of the fat!

Rosenmunnar

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2013
I did not sift my flour. I don't know if that's what made the difference, but my dough was crumbles. Even with 1/2 teaspoon vanilla all I tasted was butter and flour. I tried to save my ingredients by adding onto it to make sugar cookies.

Fabulous Wet Burritos

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2013
Very good! I followed the recipe EXACTLY. My husband really liked them. Next time I would use spicier enchilada sauce and refried beans to give it more kick. We like our food spicy. The only problem is that I wound up with way too much sauce and it was sweeter than I would have liked. I think next time I'll omit the tomato soup.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2013
These cookies are delicious! I followed the recipe exactly and stirred in golden raisins and dried cranberries. The edges bake up crispy while the center is melt-in-your-mouth smooth because of the brown sugar. You could pretty much eat them without any mix-ins, though.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2012
I made a smaller pot roast and added some carrots and potatoes. It was delicious and so easy! I had a long day at work, so it was in the slow cooker for longer than 9 hours and was super tender. Next time I'll throw in an onion, too. I'm going to make shepherds pie out of the leftovers.

'Day Before Payday' Kielbasa and Corn Hash

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2012
I made this with a pound of pork sausage today because that's what I had on hand, but I've made it with kielbasa too and both are yummy. It's especially good with the fried egg on top. I served it with a piece of garlic toast to sop up all of the yumminess.

Ground Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2012
These were very, very rich and yummy. I didn't have jalapenos so I used mild green chilis. Next time I will use jalapenos because the spice would have complimented the creaminess better. My husband hates cream of chicken, but loved the creamy sauce.

Oven Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2012
Yum! These were delicious and easy. I used some garlic salt instad of normal salt to give them more flavor. Mine stuck to the pan a little, so next time I will grease the pan better.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
Yum! This was easy and delicious. I substituted chicken broth for water and only used one can of biscuits. One can is DEFINITELY enough. I put everything in the slow cooker before work, left it on low all day, then turned it up to high for an hour after adding the biscuit dough. My husband is not a fan of chicken, but he loved this. I used Campbell's Cream of Chicken with Herbs.

Vegetable Cheese Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
I doubled the vegetables and it was still soupier than I would have liked. I prefer my soups thicker. I think next time I'll add triple the potatoes and carrots and throw in a can of whole corn, too. It's a good base recipe, though.

Summer Bean Salad II

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
Yum! I used a red onion because that was what I had on hand and boy, did it make the salad look pretty. It does taste better the second day, but I couldn't stop eating it after I mixed in the lime juice.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2011
I used the exact ingredients, but microwaved them. The first time I did 45 seconds, stir, 45 seconds, stir, like one reviewer said. The batter was lumpy and smelled a little burnt. I tossed that and the next time I chopped up the butter a little bit and did 15 seconds, stir, 15 seconds, stir, and then another 15 just to be on the safe side. The glaze was smooth and silky. I used it on cupcakes. All I did was dip the cupcake and lift it out. They were oh so smooth and shiny. Beautiful! Much easier than smearing thick frosting all over 24 cupcakes.

I doubled the sauce recipe and used one can of beans. It was delicious and made for great leftovers for lunch. This is a great cool salad for summer.
