I'm still in university - biological engineering and hoping to one day work in dairy foods processing. I grew up on a dairy farm, so I love to use all sorts of dairy ingredients in all my recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta sauce, any sort of casseroles, French-Canadian maple pork chops..
My favorite family cooking traditions
Burning things! It was once said my mother could burn salad.
Case in point, when I was 5 years old, I asked my brother, who lived next door, to make me a hot dog because Mom burned them and I wanted a good one.
My grandfather, on the other hand, was a French-Canadian cuilinary genius who died before his time, taking his recipes with him. I am trying to figure them out from memory, but its hard.
My cooking triumphs
I have figured out how to make my grandfather's maple pork chops, and they are now requested by all! Also, I make a mean turkey pasta sauce.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make cowboy pancakes by Betty Crocker when I was young for my sister and used the baking powder instead of soda or vice-versa, they were about 2 inches thick and heavy and just gross!
