Simple BBQ Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
I also added soy sauce to the boiling water. Very easy and very tasty. Living in Memphis, I've become a BBQ snob and this recipe does a nice job at home. Much cheaper than eating out! BBQ sauces are like wine - there are hundreds and it's all a matter of personal taste. Just pick what you like.

Mary's Roasted Red Pepper Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2008
I don't mean to be a fuddy duddy, but I was really disappointed with this dip. The flavor is nice - like others, I also doubled the garlic and added more minced onion. I added a bit of cayenne for a little bite. What really needed modified was the mayo. One cup of mayonnaise is WAY too much; it essentially ruined it. That much mayo made it very, very oily. The presentation was awful. If I made this again, I would cut the mayo to 1/2 c. at the most. I would possibly even skip it all together and let the cream cheese give the moisture to the recipe. I would probably add more red pepper, too. The red pepper flavor seemed to get lost. This is probably a nice base recipe, but it definitely needs some kick added to it and the mayo cut in half - at least. And yes, more red pepper, too.

Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: May 17, 2008
Excellent, excellent, excellent!! I took the advice of others and also grilled the onions. I wrapped them in foil with a handful of garlic cloves - delicious. I grilled the steaks, topped them with the onions and garlic, and topped that with some bleu cheese crumbles. This marinade is absolutely perfect and delicious. Oh, I marinaded for 24 hours. I also cut the soy sauce in half and used some Cattleman's BBQ sauce to replace the other half.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
This recipe gets 5 stars only with the addition of bleu cheese. That makes it perfect. The bleu cheese balances the sweetness of everything else in the salad. This is such a crowd pleaser as I've brought it to several dinners. It's a sure guarantee! Do add the bleu cheese, though. It completes it.

Southern-Style Meat Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
I would give this 4.5 stars if I could. It's pretty close to perfect. Using fresh ingredients, it would be - but most of us usually don't have the time for that. I like my sauce thick, and this was. It's easy to tweak to your liking, but the recipe is very good as is.

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
This is exactly what I was looking for - soft, chewy, and delicious! I used Splenda instead of white sugar, whole wheat flour in place of the white flour, and I added two packets of maple & brown sugar Quaker Instant Oatmeal to the dough. That was a great addition! The flavor was enhanced and it also added a little texture.

These were gone in no time! I also used 1/2 c. brown and 1/2 c. white sugar. Fabulous!

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Very satisfying and tasty. Even my husband, who claims to not like an Asian flair, enjoyed these.

Candy Corn Bark

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
This is a very cute recipe but definitely only for those with an incurable sweet tooth. I like sweet things, but this was too much for me. My husband, however, (who has a new cavity every time he sees the dentist) thought it was wonderful.

Pasta Primavera with Italian Turkey Sausage

Reviewed: May 23, 2007
This had a really nice flavor and made a ton! I won't have to cook for a couple of days - nice surprise. Next time, I think I'll double the garlic. I was tempted to but held off. I couldn't taste it, though, and I think the garlic flavor would be great. I'll go ahead and give it 5 stars, presuming I'll add the extra garlic next time.

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: May 23, 2007
This was delicious! For some reason, I didn't expect a lot of flavor out of it and only tried it because it had such good reviews. I'm glad I did - they don't disappoint!!

Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
Fabulous! I only made one change. I didn't have talmitillo salsa, so I used Wal-Mart's brand of black bean and corn salsa. This ended up tasting EXACTLY like the dressing used on the Santa Fe Chicken salad at Applebee's. I served it with the Southwestern Egg Rolls from this site, and it was a hit!

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
This gets a solid 5 stars!! The only change I made is I substituted fresh cilantro for the fresh parsley - I would highly reccommend doing so. These are fabulous and so much cheaper than getting them at Chili's.

Old-Fashioned Swiss Steak

What a pleasant surprise! This was really easy and the meat was soooo tender when it was done. It has that classic swiss steak flavor that I was looking for. Thanks!

Not to sound like Randy Jackson from American Idol, but this was just okay for me. It's something different, but it didn't blow me away. It's nice.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: May 10, 2007
The only thing keeping this recipe from five stars, is that it is too much honey. I cut it in half, but next time I'll probably quarter it. Otherwise, it's a great recipe and a good base for any tweaking you may like to do. A Keeper!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 5, 2007
I only did four stars because it's not "exactly" like cinnabon, but they were darn good!! They baked beautifully. I assembled them Christmas Eve night and baked them Christmas morning. It was fun! I'm sure we'll do it again next Christmas! Everyone loved them. UPDATE: Use dark brown sugar. It makes a difference.

Guacamole

To be honest, I used this more of a base recipe. I omitted the tomatoes and the onions. I kept the rest the same and it was just perfect for me!

These were good. They didn't blow me away, but they had a nice flavor and I'm sure I'll make them again. Great for Summer.
