Fire Academy
About this Cook
Not much to say, really. I found this website while my husband was going through his fire academy. I started baking cookies for him to bring once a week, to help lift spirits (it's a tough academy). This provided me new ideas- and I got to "test" out several cookie recipies on over 30 hungry firefighters... a great opportunity!
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to eat Middle Eastern, Indian, and Asian inspired dishes... but I never seem to cook them! :-) I enjoy making cookies, and quick healthy dinners for my family. My specialties are soups! :-)
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't really have any... I started making Butternut Squash Soup and homemade spiced cranberry every Thanksgiving for the past 5 years or so - that's always a favorite.
My cooking triumphs
Right after I got married, my husband and I decided to cook our first Thanksgiving dinner for my In-Laws and their family. We were SO stressed out! We made winter squash soup, turkey and dressing, baked yams in apple cider, brusselsprouts, potatoes, and gravey for ten... all on time - and soooo yummy!
My cooking tragedies
We were running late for our Fire Department Christmas dinner - and I was making a Chocolate Torte. When I took it out of the oven - it totally collapsed. I was in tears! It looked so pathetic!

Beets and Greens
Followed the recipe and the beets came out PERFECT! Absolutley love the greens mixed in, too - made the dish 5+ stars in my mind. Super easy to cook. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Real Chiles Rellenos
The BEST relleno recipe I've ever had. Yes - it was time consuming... but it was simple! Amazing flavor! The freezer trick was perfect. The sauce was unbelievable. Love love love this!

Seminary Muffins
These were very good! I was so tired when I made them - I forgot to put in the oats (duh!), but they still turned out fine. I can't wait to make them with the oats next time! Very good!
