Cantaloupe Bread with Praline Glaze

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2010
So I guess I can't really give this all 5 stars because I didn't put the praline glaze on, but the bread alone deserves 5 stars! What a great way to use up my over-ripe cantaloupe! Everyone LOVES this bread!!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2010
This is a fantastic recipe! I did substitute plain non-fat greek yogurt for the sour cream, but I doubt that changed the flavor. It came out beautiful. My daughter says it is the best ever!

Baked Spaghetti Squash with Beef and Veggies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
This was awesome!! I didn't have the tomatoes so I used spaghetti sauce instead. This will be made often in my house--probably weekly!! Thanks for such a flavorful recipe!

Cinnamon Almond Strips

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
These are great! I decided to make them instead of regular sugar cookies for Santa and I'm glad I did. However I did decide add 1/4 t. of almond extract. I also don't have a cookie press so I just rolled them and cut them with cookies cutters.

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
These are great! One thing that I changed was subsituting shortening for the lard, only because I don't have lard. Also I made this recipe once before and I used cold water not paying attention, but the dough is easier to work with if you use warm water (80 degrees or so), and they don't take an hour to make if you roll them while you cook them...

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
These peanut butter cookies are awesome! I doubled the batch to pass them out to people and in doing so I used 1 jar of creamy organic peanut butter and 1 jar of crunchy organic peanut butter then ommited the peanuts. There is just enough 'crunch' with using the crunchy pb, that there is no need to use extra nuts. I would definitely stop searching for a Peanut butter cookie recipe and use this one!!

Cauliflower Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
This is a very good casserole!! I wasn't sure if it would be due to the lack of spices. I highly suggest this recipe and it will be made in our house a LOT.

Fresh Fruit with Poppy Seed Dressing

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
This is very good. I didn't follow the recipe exactly however. Due to everyone's liking, we did blueberries, strawberries, grapes and kiwi for the fruit. Then for the dressing I didn't have raspberries so I used some frozen fruit (pineapple, mango, peach). I also added some Almond extract, flax seeds and about 1 Tablespoon of honey. Just enough to take the citrus pop down a level, but not make it sweet. I loved it and so did my daughter and husband. We have found a new fruit salad just in time for summer. I have a feeling we will be making this weekly.

Michelle's Soft Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
These are the best sugar cookies I've ever made. For some reason I can mess most sugar cookie recipes up but this one was fool proof. Not only was it the easiest to make, it has the absolute best taste! I highly reccommend this recipe. Everything was perfect from texture when rolled out, to cutting, to flavor! My daughter took them to school for her Christmas party and they were a big hit. Thank you for a great recipe that has been added to my collection!

Healing Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2008
This was GREAT! I've had cabbage soup before but it was a long time ago and I don't remember how it tasted. Not only is this recipe very easy but the taste was more than I expected. I did change it up a bit though. I used Organic Chicken Stock instead of water and cubes. I also put italian seasoning, marjoram, basil, some cayanne pepper and more garlic. I also used 28 oz. of Organic crushed tomatoes with basil. It was great the next day for lunch also. I would almost recommend making it a day ahead so the seasonings have time to combine. I love this soup!!

Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2008
This was really good! I don't like blackberries but my four year old daughter insisted that we get some so we did and I searched many recipes on what to do with them and this was the winner. I made a few minor additions to it, but I'm sure it would have been just as good if I hadn't. I added some peaches with the blackberries and in the dough I added 1 tsp. or so of almond extract then sprinkled the top with slivered almonds. It was great! Thank you for a fast and easy recipe. OH! Also I took advice from other reviewers and cut the sugar back in the berries to 1/2 cup. Any more than that and it would be WAY too sweet I think. This gave everything a nice subtle sweetness, but it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. What a great cobbler it would be with any berry!

Acorn Squash Slices

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
This was really good. If I were to make it again though, I think I would add a little bit of cinnamon and/or nutmeg with the syrup and probably omit the butter for a healthier version. It is nice that it wasn't overly sweet. It blended well with the mush of the squash and the crunch of the Pecans. I might also try toasting pecans and putting them on at the last few minutes of cooking time so they are a bit crunchier. But over-all, this is a great recipe. It would also work well with sweet potatoes!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
I've got to say, I'm not a big fan of cinnamon rolls but these are great. I did a test run before I made them for my Dad's 50th birthday party and my husband and daughter loved them. I did add pecans to the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture for a little bite. These are better than my Mom's. Thank you for this recipe!

Beef-Stuffed Squash

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
I'm giving this a high rating because it had good flavor, however I didn't like it. I'm not a big fan of meatloaf and I had never had acorn squash. So your probably wondering why I would make it. Considering those facts I thought it was delightful and had a very nice presentation. We probably won't make it again, but it was worth the try.

Broccoli Beef II

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
This was great. I used bow tie pasta (it is easier for my little one to eat) and put snap peas instead of mushrooms because that is what I had. As far as anything else I didn't change anything and it was quick and easy and delicious to eat. I'm glad that I doubled it so we can eat it for leftovers. Even my four year old liked it and she doesn't like anything, so that has to say something. It did to me anyway. Thank you for this recipe. I will make it again for sure.

Sausage and Rice Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
These were very good, although I did change quite a few things. First, I took other reviewer's advise and didn't boil the peppers. I halved the recipe but used a whole tube of Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage (we like it hot). I simmered everything for an hour but then put brown rice straight into the mixture with some extra water and simmered for about fifteen minutes. Instead of leaving the peppers whole, I decided to cut them in half, which made them eaisier to stuff as well as eat. Then I baked them for 45 minutes. Seeings I have never attempted to cook Stuffed Peppers, I have got to say, they turned out real well thanks to this recipe.

Beef Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
Due to the fact that I live 30 miles from the nearest grocery store, I used Soy Sauce instead of Tamari. Other than that I made no changes and this was a great recipe. I have had better in a restaraunt, but this is as close to theirs as I have found. I will definetly make this again. Thank you for a good recipe.

Tuscan Grilled Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2007
I was a little skeptic about this recipe because I don't really like the taste of meat, but I love to eat it. I usually put a large dose of many different spices on my steaks but I though I would give this a try and I am glad I did. I was a real light flavor but really good. I will definetly use this again!
