My favorite family cooking traditions
On Christmas Eve, my mother and I cook a hearty soup that was passed down to us from my grandmother. I love making this soup throughout the winter and sharing it with friends.
My cooking triumphs
My boyfriend (now husband) and I cooked a five course meal for his family. It was quite inventive and a wonderful success. We got a few of the ideas from Allrecipes.com! Since then we've been making creative menus and giving the menu as gifts to family members to "cash in" in the future.
My cooking tragedies
My first time cooking potato salad with a friend, she said that she boils the potatoes whole first. I forgot to poke holes into the potatoes and they rather exploded. We made the potato salad anyways. It had good flavor, but the texture left a bit to be desired!

Caesar Salad II
I thought the lemon was overpowering and made the dressing a little too tart. I also added black olives and fresh roma tomatoes--which were a good choice. This recipe went over okay with my family, but not my favorite.

Asparagus Wrap
I made this as a second course of a five course meal. I used fresh asparagus spears. I would recommend going easy on the butter. Two full sized spears were enough for each person, but if you have fewer courses, plan on three or four. I used low fat cream cheese and also steamed the asparagus for a short time first. They were not fully frozen before cooking, but I still needed a little more cooking time. Delicious!!
