Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
delicious. time consuming (even with my trusty kitchen-aid!), but worth it. tasted almost like a cinnabon, i think with a little more tweaking it would be exact! the center of the cinnabon is my favorite, where its really soft and gooey. i think ill bake these just a couple of minutes less so the outer portion of the roll isnt hard. i melted the butter and spread that over the dough, then sprinkled the cinnamon sugar mixture over that and had no problems with it running out during baking. i might even double the cinnamon sugar mixture next time! for a rare treat, im going all the way! :)

Coconut Cream Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2010
hands down, my favorite cake!! i make all the cakes for birthdays in our family, and 9/10 times this is requested. everyone loves it and cant get enough. i toast the coconut before sprinkling on top to add another depth of flavor and give a pretty color.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
i was so excited to make these and they just turned out ok. the texture was great, crispy edges and chewy centers like described, but the taste was just a little bland. it needed something extra, but i dont know what. maybe salt, but i added that!

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2010
love this! it really makes tuna salad special! i eat this once a week or so, and its even better overnight in the fridge to let the flavors meld. now i usually make it without the parmesan, but ive tried both ways and they are both good. the curry really does add so much, without tasting like 'curried tuna'!

Black Bean and Corn Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
love it. i often make quesadillas for a fast dinner during the week, and this jazzes up my basic chicken/cheese one i always make. husband loved it. i also spread the tortillas with "quesadilla jalapeno spread" from this site, and made extra on the side for dipping. hubby was in heaven!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2010
i dont know why people are saying these are fudgy. ive tried these 4 times and every time they are airy and cake-like, dry out quickly, and not much flavor. i like super dense and fudgy. i have always followed the recipe exactly, too.

Kung Pao Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
this was great! we just ate it by itself with a fruit salad. plenty spicy for me, maybe a bit too much for my husband, but he's wimpy when it comes to spice ;) next time i plan on putting lo mein or fried rice in a bowl and topping with this, just like our favorite chinese chain and their panda bowls!

Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2010
I thought this had excellent texture and the flavor was almost what I was looking for, but I found it to be a little too eggy for me. I doubled the recipe and followed it exactly, maybe when doubled I shouldn't have doubled the eggs as well. I will still use this as my base recipe, but use only 2 eggs when I double it next time.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
this was my first time making a crust from scratch. it was so easy and so delicious! my kitchen-aid mixer made it so simple to do! i found i needed a bit more flour than it called for (it was a rainy day, probably why), and i needed more time for my toppings to bake. crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside! i mixed olive oil with a little italian seasoning, garlic powder and salt and brushed that over the entire crust before i added my toppings (pesto, fresh mozz, fresh tomato, fresh spinach, DELICIOUS!!!)

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
i made this for my family and they raved and said it was literally the best lasagna they have ever tried. my parents being food snobs, this was a huge compliment. did everything exactly as recipe states but probably used at MOST half the salt (used 1/2 Tablespoon) and it was just fine. use no boil lasagna noodles that just cook right in the oven to save time. i did simmer the meat sauce for about an hour, but im not even sure if this is necessary. it would probably be fine to just make sure the meat is cooked and then start layering the lasagna. didnt take too long to make, even a beginner could make this, and it is AMAZING!!

Deviled Eggs I

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
good start for a basic recipe. i add a little white vinegar, a little pickle relish, a few tablespoons of mustard, and salt and pepper. for a little extra kick, sprinkle on top with a little cayenne pepper in place of the paprika!

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2007
these are the best peanut butter cookies! i did a few revisions, and they came out perfect. i added 2 cups of peanut butter and 2 cups white sugar, and only had one egg. if you are looking for more peanut butter taste, just keep adding peanut butter by the 1/4 cup and do some taste testing until it's to your liking. will definitely use this for a base recipe again!
