About this Cook
I've been cooking since I was 5. Scared the out of my mom by baking by myself one Saturday morning. I love cooking. I love making people happy with food. There's almost nothing better to me than seeing that look of bliss flit across someone's face when they bite into something I've made and it's perfect. I did attend culinary school and will be opening my own business at some point in the hopefully near future.
My favorite things to cook
Sweets. I have a killer sweet tooth, as my dentist will attest to. I love a challenge, though. I like trying new things and I really enjoy finding new ways to make great classics.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pumpkin chiffon pie at Thanksgiving, cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning and Gram's bacon spaghetti.
My cooking triumphs
Sounds silly, but I'd honestly have to say the look on my husband's face when I made bread for him during Hurricane Ike when people were fighting over pre made bread at the grocery store. It was priceless. No bread on the shelves, but there was yeast and flour. I said, "No worries, I can make bread." He looks at me with this totally incredulous look and says, "You can do that?" It was great!
My cooking tragedies
Mixing up the salt and sugar when making cheesecake. That was horrid. Had to start completely over because I didn't realize it until it had already baked. It wasn't entirely my fault though! Neither container was labeled!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
Last tray of these is in the oven now. I cut the recipe by half and added about 1/2 cup of raisins. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! My hubby and I scarfed them. 1/2 the recipe makes about 30 cookies for me. The first dozen will be gone before the last six are even done. This is the best oatmeal cookie recipe I've ever had. It's definitely going in my regular cookie rotation.

Pumpkin Bavarian Cream Tart
Just made this for the first time tonight for Thanksgiving tomorrow. Taste is fabulous, was easy to make as well. Just one note, this makes at least two normal sized pies. I made 12 mini tarts & had more than enough left over to make another pie. Note to self, next time make gingerbread the day before and use leftover filling to makes trifle.

Breakfast Enchiladas
Disclaimer: I have a problem with people that totally change everything about a recipe and then give it bad reviews. That being said, I had to tweak this as I didn't have everything on hand. I used frozen hash brown patties, thawed in the microwave, bulk pork breakfast sausage, no green chili, corn tortillas and red enchilada sauce. I'm quite sure the recipe as-is is wonderful. With the changes I had to make, it was fabulous. My husband had it 2 days in a row!
