JoeDogg's Spicy Red Beer

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
Very refreshing and yummy, if you like savory drinks. To me it seemed like the tomato and seasoning flavors mostly eclipsed the flavor of the beer, so I'd recommend not using a 'fancy' beer in this recipe.

Spicy Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2007
Great scones! I used a second cup of all-purpose flour instead of whole wheat, and left out the currants. The only problem I had was that they took 25 minutes to cook instead of 15. I especially liked the way the glaze on the top came out.

Old-Fashioned Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2006
These were good, but I think they would have been better if I'd followed the recipe exactly. I fudged a little on the brown sugar because I ran out, and so I added a cup of mixed powdered sugar and molasses. I do not recommend this, as the molasses takes over the flavor.

Belgian Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2006
I would definitely classify this as a cake rather than a cookie recipe, but regardless, the texture was AMAZING. It was wonderfully light and fluffy, and I liked the flavor better than most cakes because it was not too sweet.

Parmesan Dill Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2006
I followed advice from the other reviewers and went easy on the liquids while using more flour. However, I had another problem, which was that my rolls started out smelling wonderful but were very burnt on the outside by the time they were done. I may try this again at a lower temperature and possibly longer cook time.

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
This was pretty tasty - I used crumbled whole wheat toast for breadcrumbs, and LOTS of crushed hot red pepper instead of the paprika. I will probably use less milk next time.
