American Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2003
I used sweet Italian turkey sausage, and added more t. sauce. Maybe I expect more from lasagna. Wasen't the worst I've made, nor was it the "ultimate" that everyone else said it was. Sorry to be a downer, but there has to be better out there.

Garlic Potatoes Gratin

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2002
These were much better after they sat for 1/2 hour after baking. But still, all in all a dissapointment. Ate them once more then threw them away. And at the price of gouda cheese, just about killed me to do so.

Peanut Blossoms

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2002
I used butter flavored crisco. In response to the lady who said these were awful, can't figure out what you did wrong. These quite possibly, are the EASIEST cookie in the world to make. Worst part is unwrapping the kisses, but if my 3 yr old can figure it out, well, the rest of you will be fine. My only problem......getting them out of my sight, so some will be left for the holidays.

Slow Cooker Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2002
I used smoked turkey sausage instead of ham, and added carrots, & 1/4 lb velveeta. Hubby liked it, and it had good flavor just nothing to write home about. I won't make it again.

Gramma's Old Fashioned Chili Mac

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2002
I omitted the green pepper, only used one can soup(+ 1 soup can water), and added double the amount of pasta, and added 1/2 c. frozen corn. Thought cheddar cheese might help, added that too. All around good dish, more like a hot dish really, but flavor was good. If you add all the liquid it would be way too soupy. Good with a little tweaking, but then again I tweak everything.

Mushy, lacking flavor and not worth the time. If I could give it minus stars, I would.

Best White Icing Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2002
Can't say it took 5 minutes to get this to be frosting. Beautiful consistancy, added some cream to thin a bit. sets up very quick and looks great when done. I used 1/2 butter, 1/2 butter flavored crisco. Tasted great the next day but taste quality goes down with time. Eat it quick and you'll be satisfied.

Easy Spicy Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2002
Very simple and easy to make. I also browned the chicken first. Used one can rotel tomatoes w/ chillies. We must be whimpy in this house. Had a great flavor but was very spicy. Would make again but with regular tomatoes and add a "few" chiilies.

I left out cayenne(kids), used canola oil, made 1/2 batch breading, it was plenty. Very good, easy, also great as onion chips. Definate keeper.

Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2002
i omitted the salt, added more garlic powder, butter and minced fresh garlic. I needed twice the dipping ingredients, and even though I greased the pan mine stuck. Taste wise good, but could have used more of something, garlic? parsley??. Overall, good recipe, with a bit of tweaking.

I also used regular rice and one package soup mix. Also added thyme, and browned pork chops, baked one hour. Easy enough but pretty tasteless. Could use improvement.

Pot Stickers Traditional

Excellent. Ommitted the cabbage and added more water chesnuts. Sauce is wrong tho. Try 2T. soy sauce,2T. rice wine vinegar,1/2 tsp sesame oil & 1tsp. minced scallion. As always well worth the time and effort.
