I am giving this only four stars - don't feel like I can give it the full five because like other reviewers, I did not use this for the sauce as outlined. I used this recipe for the cooking technique. I rubbed the ribs with beau monde, onion powder and pepper - baked each side for 15 minutes at 400 as called for. Placed the ribs in the crockpot and poured a bottle of BBQ sauce over them, added 3 cloves of minced garlic and a generous amount of splashes of liquid smoke. Covered and cooked on low for 8 hours. While I did not make the sauce as outlined in the recipe, the cooking technique was phenomenal and the ribs turned out great. I think the pre-baking is key.
